iTunes Help

Need some help if possible please - when I first started to use MP3's, I imported a whole load of stuff into Windows Media Player on my laptop (I was using a USB memory stick in the car stereo at the time); however, since getting our iPod Classics (Mrs C and I have one each), I started using iTunes on our desktop PC - now, I moved a lot of the albums over via the network, and then imported them into the iTunes Library, however as time has went on I have gotten into a situation where I have some tracks/albums on the laptop that are not on the desktop and vice versa.

I am quite happy to use iTunes on both (although I would need to install it on the laptop), and I want to retain the stuff I have on the laptop as it is handy for times when I am at work and don't have my iPod with me - is there any way (hopefully via the home network) that I can synchronise the iTunes Library on both machines so that any that are on one but missing from the other are transferred over?

Or do I have to bite the bullet, set aside a weekend, transfer the lot to the desktop machine, sort it into order, then transfer it to the laptop by backing the library up onto disc?

Thanks in advance.

You might be able to use the new Homes Sharing feature in iTunes 9.0. I've not had a chance to explore it yet but the blurb suggests it might be able to do what you require.

Quote:
“With Home Sharing in iTunes 9, you can stream and transfer music, videos, and more with up to five other computers on your local network.”
