Video freezing and breaking up on playback

Last night during playback of a recording I started getting intermittent messages of a "scrambled channel or channel unavailable" and the image started breaking up and stuttering. It finally resumed ok. only to have the same problem again a few times. Checking it out I noticed this happening in the other 3 subsequent recordings in the series, which were spaced a week each apart. It doesn't happen during live play.

Any ideas? - strange thing is it only happened during playback. Could it be a dodgy connection somewhere?

I would check your signal strength, also remember if we have heavy storms / rain etc this will disrupt the signal strength to the saterlite. So will give the scenerio you are seeing...

What was the weather like when to recording was made? Heavy rain can interfere with the signal.

Edit: But you know that now!

The signal strength may have been a factor - It's also possible that a cable is loose somewhere, my wife has added the wiifit to the back, perhaps a cable has come loose - although I did check that. I think I'll check the connections everywhere.

Another factor, in anticipation of the firmware upgrade being good , I did upgrade the disk drive to 1tb a few weeks ago I wonder if that could be a factor connected to it?

I watched a recording of LIFE tonight and I had the same problem. Let's hope this is a one off. Incidentally my recording was done prior to the update and the weather was OK.

Interesting. Since the update I have noticed 3 or 4 small freezes on stuff I have played back (both recorded before and after the update).

Next time I notice one I'll rewind it and see if it occurs in the same place.

Hi Richard

I thought of this myself and for me it occurred in the same place.

strangley the UK has been having some realy duff weather just after the update... May be worth noting weather as well. ie very heathy rain. very dark clouds full of water which if in the way of the beam from the saterlite will cause the same issue as it gets absorbed in the upper water droplets... Remember Saterlite beam is still a line of site signal.. It just has a larger foot print. Weather, sun bursts etc can still interfere.

The above all needs to be discounted first. I have suffered this before the upgrade, seen it more so on SKY boxes but then another consideration is loose dishes that move in wind etc etc.

Hi Sadbiker

I take your points and I hope this is the issue. I can discount anything untoward with dish etc as I fitted a size 2 mindish myself a few months back and I feed two boxes of this (one being a SKY box)

It will be interesting if any others have any issues. I wonder if it's something more to do with programs recorded from before the update.

Have not recorded anything post update to check as of yet.

Theoretically when it was recorded should have no bearing since it records the transmission stream without manipulation.

I have had no issues of that sort before or after the update but have noticed that the weather is a little extreme at times for the moment.
