Thanks for that, fancynancy.

The pained look on Lisa's face creased me up.

Do these 2 comments not contradict somehow?

If you were embarrassed by Lisa's Showdance, then it must have been no surprise that she lost so Tom being in the final by whatever route was neither here nor there for you.

Brendan knowing that he and Lisa had no chance means that the right person won as per the public vote and Brendan acknowledged Tom was better than Lisa?

I guess what rankles is the use of the word 'fiddled'

He really didn't care about public opinion did he?

If Jade doesn't dance next week then all bets are off and that will be the worst SCD ever as I fear she might not be able to compete in athletic competitions.

For me my most cringe worthy moment is the loathsome logan geezer wearing the kilt. It takes alot for me to dislike someone, but him he just rubs me up the worng way.

WHAT A PILLOCK

- Ramps not getting a 'perfect 40' for his AT. I know there was slight timing problem at the start but it has to be one of the best SCD dances ever!
- THAT showdance. It was is Brenda was scooping up roadkill.
- Lilia's dress breaking and her having to carry on
- Austin's being eliminated. Lisa should have gone instead.
- Jan Ravens' outburst.

I don't think anyone's mentioned the ghastly saloon girl outfit Emma Bunton had to wear for her Paso Doble, and for the rest of the programme, poor woman.

In the back of my mind I thought there was one series where the third placed couple didn't get to dance their showdance. Do you remember this or is it just my imagination?

I loved that dance with Kenny in his kilt!

‘I hope so, but you never can tell. Martina went out very early which was shocking because she was so lovely. But I think what a lot of people didn’t know about Martina – other than the sports side of her – was that she was so, so, so ill the weekend she went out. She got food poisoning on the Friday and I’m telling you, she was literally throwing up her guts backstage – just endlessly being sick. But she didn’t let the public know, and I wouldn’t have said anything either, because we’re sportswomen.

I will never forgive Craig for not giving it a 10. Never.

What makes it even worse (and another moment for my list) was Rachel matched the score last series too. I was gutted.

Rachel was technically great, but I just didn't feel the AT passion that made it 10 worthy, like I did with Ramps and Karen's.

I suppose I should just consider it a blessing that she didn't get full marks for it and beat Ramps's highest score. Sometimes, I have to pat Craig on the back for using the 9 paddle when the others use 10's.

I don't think there has been such an occasion, no. Series 1 had a two couple final (Natasha/Chris P), series 2 a three couple one in which all couples did perform their showdance, series 3 - same as series 2, series 4 was another two couple final due to Jimmy Tarbuck's withdrawal and series 5 was the same due to Kelly Brook having to pull out. Series 6 we know about... . So no, whenever three couples have made the final, they have always been able to do their showdance. As indeed they should. It doesn't seem right that a couple puts so much time and energy into a performance that never gets seen. I always think that about the Bolero routine on DOI.

Tom getting a free pass to the final because the tie made it impossible for him to get through on the public vote .!!!

he should have danced better , then the judges wouldn't have given Rachel and Lisa higher marks !!

Cherie and Austin going out was very upseting too

losing Martina on show 1 has ruined the whole of this series for me - i've not watched it as much as in previous years .

Len not giving Alesha a 10 for her final Waltz (imo the best dance in strictly history by quite some way)
I understand people being annoyed at Craig not giving Mark and Karens AT a perfect score. But its Craig he dosnt have a habbit of handing out 10s. So for me when he does or dosnt I tend to give him the bennefit of the doubt and say fair enough. Because I know that its not something he ever does lightly.
But when Len does it, it can really make me mad. Especcialy when he admited a few weks earlier that he had seen mistakes in Gethins Waltz (which I also loved btw) but was going to ignore them and give it a 10. To then in the final decide to pick that night of nights to be picky and only give Alesha a 9, I does make me question his motives and I was shocked.

Also the judges tearing strips of Brendan and Kelly for a poor Samaba and lack of content, only for it to be announced a couple of days latter that her father had passed away (it dosnt take a lot to work out that the lack of cotnent and half hearted routine was related to this news). I can only assume they didnt know he was so ill but it really put a lot of things into perspective and I would have hoped the judges and certain viewers learned a lesson.

I'm sure there are others, but these spring immediately to mind.

Oh, the whole JS leaving debacle.”

People 'fell' for Matt DA's 'puppy dog' impression because he was geuninely gutted - failing yourself and your beloved dance partner and geuninely looking like an idiot in front of several million people would have quite a lot of people upset really.

I have to say that the meltdown was horrible to watch at the time and it's the only dance of SCD 5 that I haven't re-watched the commentary for because I geuninely can't bear to watch it again. However you are right about Jan Ravens - that was a true lowlight too - Jan, you made yourself look like even more of an idiot than Brendan Cole and Matt DA managed - I hope you're happy!

Absolutely, it robbed Gethin of his place in the final. ”

I don't get why Matt DA getting through was any worse than the countless duffers who get through at the expense of better dancers which happens every single year on SCD. At least Matt could actually dance when his brain wasn't going blank as he actually proved the next week.

I could be sarcastic about the Gethnites outrage he didn't make the final as a result but I was pretty gutted Austin was eliminated so I do understand. I wouldn't have liked to chosen between Matt and Gethin really - they each had strengths and weaknesses as dancers - and in the end it was a cracking final to watch and the right person won.

He didn't have a go at her for being fat he answered a question of hers 'do you think I could lose some weight' with a yes. She outright asked him if she thought he was fat and he said 'no'.

Quite! Can you imagine the kick off if Len had described one of the female contestants as 'having a cracking pair of norks?' in the manner Arlene drooled over certain male celebs?

I'm suprised no one has listed Arlene's "Pole dancer/poles from Poland" jibe at Ola. Managed to be incomprehensible and offensive at the same time.

The whole John Sargent debarcle - pretty much signals to anyone of a certain age & girth "Don't bother signing up to do the show. If by chance the public take a shine to you & vote, then we will persecute you as though you are personally responsible for ruining the show!". If the judges, producers, dance professonals and fellow contestants are not prepared to see someone win on the basis of the public vote, don't ask them onto the show in the first place!

I'd be prepared to pay double the licence fee to see that!
