Ok - After the update (10/11) I now have to power reset the box every morning as it seems to be locked (light on the front is blue, completely unresponsive to remote input).

Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

The update should not have caused this.

Check you have 1.00.11.

Check all your connections.

Try a Factory Reset. You will lose your scheduled reservations and any user settings you may have changed; and the volume will be reset to mid-way.
