The 81-year-old entertainer has never missed a show in the past five series of the BBC ballroom dancing series.

According to BBCSTRICTLY on Twitter Tess will be presenting......which still leaves a hole in Tess's room (Tesspit) to fill.
Just posted in my thread.

It must be pretty bad for Bruce to miss a show, so I hope he recovers and gets back to his spritely self very soon.

Bruce Forsyth has been forced to pull out of presenting Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday because he has flu, the BBC has said.

A BBC spokesman said the 81-year-old would be missing the show "on doctor's orders".

He added that co-presenter Tess Daly would be taking on Forsyth's hosting role.

It is the first time Forsyth has missed a show since Strictly Come Dancing began in 2004.

"Unfortunately, due to a bout of the flu and on doctor's orders, Bruce will be unable to host Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday. However, Tess Daly will be stepping into his presenting shoes," the spokesman said.

It is not yet known if a replacement has been called in to perform Daly's backstage duties on the show, where she talks to the contestants after they come off the dance floor.

They will probably get an experienced presenter to fill in for Tess it would be silly to get someone who ahs never hosted a live show before to take on that role. It is a lot different interviewing people to a set time than it is wandering round with a camera crew all day and being edited into a couple of minutes worth of footage. Christine Bleakley maybe?

Gethin is a good shout, they might want to keep it male/female.
Hope Bruce gets well soon.

I wouldn't think Tess would be happy to see Claudia take over her role backstage.... might start given the producers ideas !!! I love Claudia... she is miles better than Tess.

All best wishes for Bruce in his recovery.
Did he not have a similar ( but not so severe obviously ) bout last year?

I think it more than likely James will step in - he's done a bit of backstage reporting over the last couple of weeks and he seems to have a good relationship with all the dancers who I'm sure will rally round.

If James Jordan or any other pro takes on Tess' role I will choke on my sequins. It will be someone with proper live presenting experience, Myleene Klass, Gethin Jones, Christine Bleakley even Gary Lineker is more likely to get the gig!!
