Why do people keep repeating that Simon chose to go to deadlock, as if somehow he couldn't decide and abstained from voting.

Deadlocks not like a "phone a friend" option from Millionaire which you pick it if you don't want to make a decision.

He voted to keep the Twins in and send home Lucie. If he had abstained from voting the twins would of gone home.

We really don't need another thread about this, there are dozens of them on this forum alone and that was last week now, let it lie.

In his reasoning for voting to keep the twins in, he stated it was so that it would go back to the public to decide. He never pretended he was voting for the twins to save the twins.

I think he has even said that he thought the public vote would go the other way and the twins would be out.

I'm glad someone started a thread on this, it's nice to finally get some sense of how people feel about these events

His reasoning defies logic. So he says he voted to save the twins so that the public would send them home. It's BS designed to fool the public.

LOL Like Simon didn't already know the result of the public vote Anyway it doesn't take away the fact he saved an act that he claimed should never have been given the chance to enter what he described as a 'singing' contest.

No.. he says he voted to save the twins to send it to deadlock, so that the act the public liked least would go... makes perfect sense to me.

Your time machine hasn't worked, it's still Friday 13th and the X Factor live show without Lucie is still happening tomorrow

Stop dwelling over it, what's done is done.

No, he couldn't. Abstaining is not an option. Ever heard Dermot say "Simon, I need your vote please. If you vote for J&E, they're going home. If you vote for Lucie, it will be deadlock and we will refer to the earlier public vote. Or maybe, just because the twins are in the bottom two and some of the public have a problem with them, you would like to abstain this week?"

So he'll be doing this every week now then?

I wish they'd have made him say "The act I want to send home is Lucie". That is how it's meant to work and it would certainly be a more salient soundbite.

But simon DID abstain from voting. he sent it to the public knowing the outcome there in advance. frankly, he's all over the place on this. he claimed the twins were practically in a world of their own. If so, what does it say about him that he was prepared to use them as a public laughing stock in what was supposed to be a serious talent show?

He won't be able to do it every week. As the only mentor with 3 acts left, it's more and more likely that he will have an act in the bottom 2. If that's the case, he votes first or second. The judges will probably do a spite vote, it would rest of Louis.

Thats why I started this thread, because some people seem fooled by it. He didn't abstain. If he had the twins would of gone. With 1 vote versus Lucies' 2 votes.

Depends who gets to cast the deciding vote imo.

mathematically, you're right, but i didn't think there was an option available to have three votes only, other than in the absence of a judge.[louis, three weeks ago]
simon would have had to declare one way or another.

To all those saying that she went fair and square-how do those feel about the fact that by a judge actually casting a vote which will send an act home-they can be sending the act home that may not have been the least popular?

That's what is so pants about it. Simon decides when the publics vote matters according to whatever he wants. Then bleets on about it being our fault etc-but can conceivably SAVE the act that the public want out whenever he wants and we will never know.

When the judges actually choose, they should tell us who really had the least votes. That would be interesting.

If Simon thought Lucie would be saved by the public vote he would have saved her himself-you don't take a punt like that over such a controversial act like Jedward.

Saying he was torn between upsetting two sets of fans etc is ridiculous. Those two acts followers failed to vote enough to keep them safe. What a bs merchant.

Simple fact he chose not to save the better singer in what he has been quoted in numerous soundbites saying that this is a singing competition (don't make me go find the soundbites, there are plenty on youtube).

I just noticed the title of this thread...

Yes, Simon did CHOOSE to go to DEADLOCK.

He chose to vote for Lucie so there were two votes a piece. No one held him at gunpoint.
