I'm another one who doesn't mind the plugging - just so long as its brief and they obviously watch the show and enjoy it, that's all I ask. The worst guests have been the ones who obviously don't watch, worst offender that Jessica woman (who's surname I've forgotten) from Spaced- so obviously didn't have a clue or the slightest interest.
Miranda obviously watches and enjoys, so like Marianne, she can appear as much as she wants IMO |

I thought so too - Katherine Jenkins was a bit superfluous actually and Craig was great in more relaxed mode.

Last year IT2 was ruined for me by the constant unrelated guests plugging something - there seemed to be little time left over for Strictly. That hasn't been the case this year though. The show has been really good, so I can forgive the occasional plug, especially from someone who clearly is also a fan of the show.

I had never heard of Miranda but I thought she was very amusing and seemed like a genuine fan.
Wasn't quite sure WHY Katherine J was there! ![]() |

Or was it the year before Jessica Hynes made a faux pas calling the show 'Strictly Ballroom Dancing'? She's never quite redeemed herself in my eyes since, despite me being a massive fan of Spaced.... I really loved Miranda on the show last night, her sitcom doesn't look great though. |

No where near the worst guest EVER who had clearly never watched a second who was Eamon Holmes.
At least Miranda clearly watched the programme. |

If Miranda appeared only because of the new series, there was no "programme placement" as no time was given over to promoting or featuring that programme (unless I missed it).
Nor Katherine Jenkins, for that matter. Saying "they enjoy the show" Good enough for you? I don't care if BBC people with a running programme like it, it's fine by me, I don't need them to come on to IT2 to tell me. Could be that Claudia didn't give the plug because the conversation went off script. But it seems no coincidence to me that Miranda was there the same week her new series started. That's still "programme placement." There's been enough trails of the programme for viewers to make the connection... Except for one or two on here. |

I don't worry about the motives that the BBC might have. Either I like someone or I don't. And if I don't, then I find something else to do with my time.
I like Miranda Hart. I thought she was very funny on ITT and enjoyed the programme. |

I thought your gripe was regarding "programme placement (of which there was none)?Quote:

Then don't listen at that point. Do something else. Programmes are made for others as well you know, not just tailored to your requirements. So what is your criterion for having guests on ITT? Quote:

Nice conspiracy theory. One other theory is that Claudia didn't give a plug because there was no plug to give. Prove otherwise.Quote:

No it is not. No programme details mentioned at all, so unless you already knew of her programme, you would have been none the wiser (which would have defeated the object of your neatly-invented "programme placement" concept).

Other posters have already addressed that question.

Quite. So maybe being a touch less aggressive when replying to others who express a different view would be a good thing.

And you call me agressive. You've still not got an answer to why someone who started a new series this week on BBC2, which was heavily trailed, just happens to pop up on IT2 a few days later. "magic?" You might want to look at the thread title again. But I honestly don't care. |

I have no idea. Not that the programme was promoted on ITT (which was the original point), and not that Miranda's involvement in that programme affected what was talked about on ITT (which was the other point). And not that I was at all bothered/perturbed/annoyed/irked/riles by any implied or actual motive from the BBC at that point. In fact, at the time, I did not give it a second thought as I was interested in what was being talked about (i.e. I was paying attention to the programme contents, which was the reason that I was spending my time watching).Quote:
You might want to look at the thread title again. That's fine, I'm not going to take this any further off-topic (nor will I seek to prolong any perceived argument or disagreement), perhaps you'll accept that others don't always share your views or opinions and are quite entitled to differ and offer other suggestions (which may or may not be seen as acceptable). And that we will have to accept that our views will differ on this and other matters. But I honestly don't care.
