New to the Wii - advice please
My kids are being given a wii for christmas. I am not up to date with the Wii - we still use the ps2.
The pack they will get has sports resort and mario kart. What else should I get? Are there any accessories they will need? What games can you recommend - they are teenage girls. |

In regards to games it's hard to recommend ones which they'll enjoy because I'm not a teenage girl! However, 3 classics which you should be able to pick up cheaply now are: - mario galaxy - zelda: twilight princess; and - smash bros. brawl (great for multiplayer!!). |

A second Wiimote is essential for two-player games. The cheapest way is to get one bundled in with the Play game - or even second user from a games shop! They'll have enough games with that lot to last until the shops reopen and they can choose their own.
I think Mario Kart will come with a 'steering wheel' (lump of plastic into which the wiimote fits) although it isn't essential. AA NiMh rechargeable batteries are a good investment, too! (Each remote takes 2 AA cells). The composite video cable supplied is fine to start with. There is only a very minor improvement in quality (in my opinion) with the 480p component version. |

You might want to take a look at Dance Revolution + dance mat.

I can highly recommend any of the Lego games:
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures {&} Lego Batman: The Video Game I was cynical till I played them; they are fantastic and work really well on the Wii, due to the Wii's exellent controllers. I made the mistake of buying Lego Indiana Jones on the Xbox 360 and the controller set up was nowhere near as comfortable as the Wii's (for this game series). And as others have said: you will definitely need to buy a second Wiimote and Nunchuck so that two can play together. {&} They are releasing an updated version of this week, which includes "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' and other enhancements, but from what I've read it's not worth the beans if you have the original. |

You have to use the wiimote to point at the screen to control features too often, and while you are exercising that's frustrating when they could have just had you press 'A' or 'B' or any of the other buttons to 'interact'. I'm not keen on the repetition of the same introductions to each exercise. It gets boring very quickly. And finally it would be great if you could set up, say, a 30-minute workout; a regimen of your devising, or even a totally random one. Unfortunately you have to go back and forth between menus selecting what you want to do next every few minutes. |
