I honestly thought he would have been Brucie's stand in when I found out that Brucie was ill - didn't Brucie suggest earlier in the year that he wanted Ronnie to replace him when he leaves the show.

Perhaps today is a run thru of what things could happen when Brucie finally does leave...perhaps Claudia will replace Tess too??

Seems he was just a little filler for Bruce to add some jokes etc...Maybe he can't stand for to long?

I agree. I really don't see why they needed him at all. Tess and Claudia would do fine on there own.

Think the BBC have worked a blinder here.

They're letting Tess present the show, and she's doing a good job, but no way would she have been able to do the opening with the Brucie type jokes...Ronnie Corbett doing the opening and then sitting back was a masterstroke.

They'll need Ronnie Corbett again to fill in when all the dances are finished, before we get to the voting.

And of course Claudia is brilliant in the backstage Tess role.

He will be back for some backstage bits and the voting. He is just not appearing through the actual dances, since he wouldn't have been at rehearsals before today.

No the BBC can't pay him 40K. He;s still a legend. I'm sure they would need a comedian to replace Brucie if he ever did give up?

PAUL O'GRADY?

It was all a bit contrived unless he was actually going to be involved in talking to the dancers or the results. The ringing Bruce thing went too far as well.....surely they should have actually rung Bruce and had him on loudspeaker or on a VT link.

I bet Tess was pleased that Brucie rang him up at 10pm to go along and hold her hand. Actually, there didn't seem any point. The show rolled along ok enough without any jokes. Good move not trying to make Tess do them.

The opening could have provided for a real injury cursed show moment. Ronnie seemed to trip before the camera cut away. He could have ended up worst injury of the night.
