Am I the only one who thought Ronnie was worse that Bruce?

Why they drafted him in I have no idea - Tess and Claudia would have been fine on their own

And what the hell was all the time wasting with him pretending to ring Bruce?

He wasn't needed at all. I didn't see the point, tbh.

I dont think Tess could cope on her own so needed a funny guy to fill in for Bruce at the start mainly

The opening could have provided for a real injury cursed show moment. Ronnie seemed to trip before the camera cut away. He could have ended up worst injury of the night.
He certainly did, but made a joke of it and ran back and took the steps again! Funnily enough that's the second time today I've seen Ronnie fall. Watching the clip earlier of him flying off the treadmill, during Peter Kay's, Amarillo. They all cracked up watching it back.

Ronnie Corbett?

...and people complain about Bruce.

Still it proved one thing, Tess couldn't do the job, too lightweight.

Ronnie Corbett? He made Bruce look good

What was the point in him? One old man can't make it so they have to draft another one in? I don't want to sound cruel but there was no need for him (and I like Ronnie!). Tess and Claudia could have come down the stairs together and even done a little dance together

This is one reason why I am so against the TV Licence!!! I cant beleive that my hard-earned Licence money goes towards paying someone like Ronnie Corbett to sit on his fat ass doing absolutely sod-all on Strictly this evening!! Surely, he could have done Bruces parts of the show and Tess still stayed in the dancers room!!!!!! And I dont beleive for one moment that he actually spoke to Bruce on his cell phone!! It was all an act!!!!

In fact, if you ask me, the whole show this evening was an utter shambles with Jade out of it due to an injury, then someone else had an injury, and then Bruce off with flu!!!! In fact with one contestant out, the whole show should have been postponed, cos it puts the whole scoring and judging process in chaos and its not fair on the other contestants!!!! They could have put on a special non-competition show instead!!!

Utterly disgraceful!!!!!!

Please , people like the bankers actions and Mps expences were utterly disgraceful, this is a tv show where someone was injured and someone else had the flu so another person helped out to get it started off , whats disgreceful about that.

If this was Americas' Dancing With The Stars, I am sure they would have handled it with far more professionalism!!!

Oh well good on America , we however are in the UK and tend to laugh things off and get on with it rather than having to be over the top, sparkling and perfect about everything.

I really enjoyed seeing him on the show as well. Really lovely.

If Bruce stepped down then I'd love it if Ronnie took his place.

I thoroughly enjoyed his little contribution to the show, his gentle comedy was great, much better than Bruce's constant me, me, me.
Tess was really good as well, well done her on what must have been a difficult night.

And just a small point, I don't care how much more polished DWTS would have been, I don't like the show, too American and glossy and over the top and we use the term mobile phones in this country, NOT cell phones. Sorry but the Americanisation of our language really annoys me.

If Bruce stepped down I would like Claudia to take his place or Terry Wogan or the wonderful Paul O'Grady. Paul and Claudia what a combination!

I thought Tess did an excellent job filling in for Bruce and Claudia was equally good taking over from Tess.

I didn't find Ronnie C at all amusing - he fluffed his lines, hesitated and was generally an embarrassment. Whatever he was paid was too much!

I thought he did rather well to be honest - Tess and Claudia too.

He's clearly no expert at reading the auto cue, but Ronnie has the same old fashioned style of humour as Bruce and I liked his contribution to the show as it wasn't too OTT.

That made me laugh ~ a lot!

I enjoyed the show tonight, thought Tess (who usually irks me) did well with her scripted role, loved Claude in the Tesspit (be afraid Tess, be VERY afraid) and didn't mind Ronnie Corbett, though I'm not entirely sure what the point was...

The only downside for me was the injuries to Jade and Laila which took a bit of the gloss off. Hope they both recover quickly, though I fear we may have seen the last of Jade I wasn't keen on her at first, but she grew on me and I'll miss her if she can't continue.

This is a demonstration of how things work at the BBC.

The producers obviously had no confidence in the abilty of Tess to carry the show and they were right.
I guess they were in a bit of a panic with Bruce going sick.
Strikes me that they had no "contingency plan" and Ronnie was a last gasp replacement, maybe at the suggestion of Bruce?
It had to be someone "unemployed" for that close to a Saturday night.
In any other circumstances it would have been a complete disaster, but as a "family show"in the end, it didn't really matter, but it did look pathetic, though I doubt if it's done Ronnie's employment prospects any good, if that is he ever wants to work again.

I'm still trying to work out how the voting went.
If Lailla decided she couldn't dance because of the injury, would both of them have got a "bye" to the next round?

Guess the BBC were hoping for "the sympathy vote" to keep her in, as it would have been unfair for her to go and Jade to stay, regardless of injuries.

There were lots of options, including the infamous "nobody goes" like they had a few years ago on the "other side."

I'm still not sure whether Jade will return and if not, Tuffers should be back in. That would cause the fewest complaints from viewers. Still it's all good publicity isn't it? The BBC will be rubbing their hands.

At least there was some good news, in my telly mag. it said Mariah Carey was going to sing. But maybe the BBC couldn't come up with;

Cristal champagne; One box of bendy straws; One special attendant to dispose of used chewing gum; Tea service for eight; A Honey Bear pack of honey; Two air purifiers; Puppy and Kittens.
