Paul works for Radio 2 as well. I would expect if in an emergency the BBC would change the standin every week? Leaving claudia and tess as they are. Hopefully this will not come to it, but I guess people will be wondering how long a 80 plus year old can go on.

( This is all speculation )
I agree. I said in another thread earlier how Im suprised its taken till now for him to have to miss a show due to ill health. He's 82 for heaven's sake! Something a minor as a cold or a cough can take it out of you at that age.

Why ronnie corbett? Tess and Claud did a grand job, he was totally superfluous.

I took it that Jade was allowed a 'pass' this week cos she had a doctor's certificate so to speak. But Leila saw the doctor but wasnt forbidden from dancing so she would probably have had to resign rather than be given a pass if she decided not to do it.

But next week surely Jade will have to perform or resign, otherwise she will end up winning without ever dancing again!!

Isis333 "Jade's knee cap popped out of the socket, did you expecvt her do dance with such an injury? "

I dont think anyone suggested she should??? Peeps just seem to think it unfair that she is given a pass to next week and Leila not.

It started off really badly when they did the sweep of dancers before some of them had even got down the stairs, it improved (Claud is fab!) but it did die a bit of a death without Brucies rod of iron

This is exactly my point. How would Laila have been able to dance again in the dance off? She was clearly in agony. It seemed a little unfair.

Laila was given the option to sit out the dance (and offered a "free pass") but she chose to continue.

I couldn't quite see the point of Ronnie Corbett - but I like him anyway.
Thought Claudia was Brilliant - much better than Tess. Tess? well she was ok and I would prefer her where she was than being all simpery back stage!!!

I thought they all covered really well in what was a nightmare scenario for live TV.
Poor Jade~ I am actually sending prayers to that lady as this is her athletic career we're talking here.. Olympic medals at stake. She is a darling , as is Ian.

It was lovely to see Ronnie, even if he was only there to give Tess a bit of moral support~ he is a showbiz legend!

Tess and Claudia did a great job! Claudia is absolutely adorable and I think all the dancers were so relaxed with her backstage, she made if fun.

Yes Brucie is 82 ~ but WOW! The show does lack something without him...
I suppose if he does ever get sick ( nooo not Brucie! ) they could draft in Sir Terry....

Anyway, I felt so sad for everyone re injuries etc.. but they worked so hard to pull it off.

It was a very, very odd show and I have to agree that there should be a strong, definite contingency plan in place for illness/injury - it is live TV! As injuries are very likely every single week, they should be prepared with a back-up plan or a definite plan (ie. no dance off or whatever).

Why did they need The Corbett? Not that I'm complaining, I love me some Corbett but it was totally random and unnecessary.

I can certainly see why X Factor is trashing the show this year - I watched that without my rose coloured glasses on tonight and it felt creaky and a little embarrassing. I really think next year they need to sit down and think about how they take the show up a gear.

If you look three posts above your one, there's a link to what happens in such circumstances.

I know Brucie cant help being ill, but the BBC should really have been better prepared for tonight. WTF was Ronnie Corbett doing there?! What was the point of that? He didnt do anything and his jokes made Bruce's look good. Why dont the BBC just have a notice accross the bottom of the screen saying "Watch the X Factor instead. We've given up"
I rather think that was the point!

The show was brilliant tonight considering the panic they must've had today - the biggest their own making. Why oh why did they unnessecarily try and shoehorn Ronnie Corbett onto the programme when Tess and Claudia were more than enough.

How well the two of them did. Tess was cool, calm and professional; Claudia was warm and supportive, the show was slick without the jokes from the 1880s and constant hesistation.

As for the free pass - I think Jade and Laila should've both had their dress rehearsals aired and the judge's scoring that. If either/both were in the dance off happened then the same thing happened with a video being shown. That way the public would've had the opportunity to vote on all.

I agree Ronnie Corbett was completely unneccessary, but I thought Tess and Claudia were fine together as presenters, I didn't miss Bruce at all.
I agree, they should have just left Ronnie corbett at home and allow Tess and Claudia to get on with it. For having to pull it out at the last minute I thought they did a good job.

Neither did I to be honest. I thought Tess and Claudia were great!

I dont understand why the stand in host has to be a friend of Bruce's? Who will it be next week if he's still not right? Jimmy Tarbuck?
Please God ... NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
