I agree with most of the other posters who think that Jade will not be able to continue in the competition.

I am extremely sad as I wanted her to win.

I do wonder though, if she can continue but can't really do any training for several days whether they will allow her to do her tango next week instead of learning another dance?

Urgh I hate things to do with knees, always makes me feel really queasy.
I tore the ligaments in mine once and it was the most painful experience I've ever had, she has my deepest sympathy.
I don't know if after a scare like this she'd want to come back just in case, especially if it is dislocated. I mean I'm not a triple jump expert but your knees must take a fair old whack of the impact right? Anything could happen...and now I feel sick again...

Me too, but I would not want her to jeopardise her athletics for our enjoyment

It would need to be seriously modified since it has been the main cause of her injury.

Best wishes, Jade x

You too, Ian - I could see how gutted you were at it happening x

It's always been very noticeable on DOI that they don't get sports people who are still in their game so to speak : no doubt due to injury .

SCD has been slightly different as there have been sports peple who are still earning a living from sport: Darren Gough was still playing and so was Mark Ramprakash and he still is of course. I suppose he4 is taking a small risk on the tour , but will see it , no doubt as a great way of keeping his fitness levels up for the new season

Denise Lewis was no longer competing fully , though I may be wrong . Matt Dawson and Austin Healey had retired ;it's long list .

I suspect it has been assumed to be a safe bet in terms of injury and yet every year there are some nasty mishaps.

I was a bit surprised that jade took it on whilst still competing .

I have really enjoyed Jade and Ian and they were my tip to win.Of course they may still, but after her comment on ITT about how worried she was about training for the long jump in January, not worried about training for SCD ( and why should she be ?) my gut feeling is she will leave .

I'd like to think that this isn't true... I love watching Jade and Ian dance. I hope she makes a recovery soon, not only for Strictly but for her career.

I was so disappointed when I heard that Jade was not dancing last night, and horrified when I heard how bad the injury was. I just hope it doesn't ruin her chances of competing in Athletics.
Get well soon.

it's terribly sad for both Jade & Ian - you could see Ian was gutted for her last night, he was so looking forward to his first tango in 4 years, and I hope Jade is ok to compete, I think they were potential winners............hey ho, maybe she can stay with Zoe in the bunk beds that Claudia has in the ITT studio???

Jade, we all hope you're ok.....

I shed quite a few tears this evening over Jade and then Laila.
Wouldn't it be great if they gave Strictly a week off next week to give time for everyone to recover (including Bruce, not that I care so much about his return). It will also mean if Jade pulls out of the comp then they can still have three in the final.
Put a movie on next week BBC, and give the guys a week off!
I've had a few tears as well tonight. First Jade, who I feel so sorry for. I hope this doesn't ruin her chances of competing in 2012. I know it seems a long way away, but ligaments are tenuous things, if its that. Didn't really shed a tear for Laila, but again felt sorry for her, and because of both their injuries, it made a mockery of the dance-off situation, so I don't think Phil should have been eliminated. A few tears over that too. I don't know why they couldn't have done without it for one week, due to unforseen circumstances.

It does sound like a dislocation. I dislocated mine at the end of August this year and it is still quite painful and I am still limping. I know Jade will have far better treatment available to her but I still don't see her competing in SCD again. Shame as I wanted her to go all the way
They pop when you damage the ligament too. I was doing hill scrambling when I sprained my knee (one of the side ligaments) and there was a definite pop.

2nd time was the anterior cruciate when indoor bouldering. I don't remember it popping because I fell the last metre, so the sound didn't register. That was 3 years ago, docs at A&E sent me home as a soft tissue injury that would heal (in spite of the fact that when I tried to put weight on it I fell over). I may be getting it reconstructed next week. Provisionally booked in, but not confirmed yet. So for the last 3 years I've only been able to do straightline activity (ie walking, swimming, cycling), no running or jumping. I have to use sticks when its icy, as the cartilage is getting worse every time I slip. I do dance, but not at SCD level. I can do most things, inc the basic jive steps (no hopping though), but I can't do heel turns properly, or spins or pivots, because I can't be certain of the control over my legs.

However, as Jade will be overseen by top physios and doctors, I expect that if she needs work doing, it will be done a darn sight more speedily than my being sent home, and only finding out its actually a proper tear, when I still was having problems over a year after the accident!!

she's an olympic athlete - her single focus for her life - i am 100% certain she will leave the show but was in shock last night and it will be announced ITT this week, say mon/tues.

I certainly wouldn't if I were her. Sad as I found her progress exciting & she was one of the three I looked forward to.

It's funny because I did wonder if she wasn't afraid that the dancing might result in an injury that affected her performance...
