Sorry, but how does saying 'See, told you' after being voted through imply anything other than that he was confident of getting through?
I'm not a particularly violent Anton-hater (though I wouldn't say I was his biggest fan either), and I think his concern for Laila during their dance did him credit. But even thinking that it's a good idea to say something like that when you're wearing a microphone is just another example of Anton's mouth moving faster than his brain. If I were him I wouldn't expect another sympathy vote to go his way. ![]() It doesn't imply anything but one of the inferences that you might draw is that he told Laila that they's be all right to keep her spirits up - what else would he have said - that they were doomed? |

Though Anton said words in Lai's ear
It's foot-in-mouth syndrome I fear To reassure her He receives more censure There's more hate from people on here Than ever has come from Anton A good bloke when all's said and done Mob mentality Causes much more fatality Than a dance slip on BBC1 ! I wrote that for the Limerick thread about 4 o'clock yesterday. As it seems to tally with a lot of views on this thread, thought it would fit here too. |

I do agree with you, I'm just saying that Anton is not suddenly a saint because he picked her up off the dance floor. One does not go from racial slurs to unblemished chivalry in the space of a few weeks.
I thouht Laila and Anton behaved with diginity and wer touchingly sweet with one another this week . I hope both Laila and Anton are well enough to dance next week but I suspect not for Jade given what appears to have happened with her knee. It was a lot better show than it could have been under very difficult circumstances and I felt EVERYONE pull together and showed compassion and diginity in their responses to all the adversity! |

And one more thing: he is an entertainer. As someone else said he would hardly come out with "You've ruined it all now!" or whatever. |

He's marmite guys, simple. You either love him or hate him, you look for the good in someone or always notice the bad.
I look for the good in people, always have. Anton always tries to make his partners have fun, even the wingey ones like Patsy & Laila. Although these days all the male dancers seem to have copied his cuddley approach. I remember in the first series thinking how sickly it was that he and leslie were so friendly! Now most of them are like that with their celeb partners! he is a foot in mouth plonker at times, but that just indeers me more to him. |

But there are alot of people on this board who, like Anton, think that racial slurs are minor issues.
In fact, I'd say that's a load of rubbish. People supporting Anton over his alleged comment does not automatically mean they think racial slurs are minor issues. |

He was lovely to her tonight - protective and supportive.
The way he swept her up mid-dance when she couldn't continue - my heart went out to the pair of them. And you're right - Tess did a good job filling in for Brucie and Claudia was her usual quirky and amusing self I love how they had a little group hug at the end to celebrrate getting through a very difficult show. |

Actually, Anton is stupid sometimes! But hardly mad, bad and dangerous to know. To err is human though. We've all 'erred'.
And one more thing: he is an entertainer. As someone else said he would hardly come out with "You've ruined it all now!" or whatever. i dont really understand your post, I agree Anton sometimes acts stupid but like i said he is not stupid, i dont really understand the rest of you post in context of quoting my post. |

But you were not saying any of that, perhaps? Then I got the wrong end of the stick and I apologise. The 'entertainer' bit is that it is more 'entertaining' (or pleasant to watch) to pick up Laila and treat her kindly than otherwise, although at the same time I do think it was sincerely and genuinely done. |

That's okay. Maybe I misunderstood yours. I thought you were saying that Anton was copying Brian picking up Ali, but that you were criticising him for doing this. I took 'Anton is not stupid' to possibly mean that he is calculating and devious. In my opinion, and possibly his, he is just a little bit stupid, and not calculating and devious.

no dont think he is calculating or devious, i think he is genuinely a bumbling fool type with foot in mouth and the best of intentions, i do think if he hadnt of picked laila up especially after Brian being so dashing with Ali he would have looked a right arse
why say that he is 'not stupid'? I don't understand your point. Never mind, we seem to have our wires crossed and I'm tired. ![]() Let's agree that he is a bumbling fool most of the time but he means well? |

sometimes, just sometimes , it makes life more pleasant for everyone when you can appreciate the good in someone rather than dwelling on the bad all the time!
