What actually I'm understanding less and less is why she stopped when she did. They do a 90 second dance right?

Well they did 76 seconds of the dance (yes I am anal enough to have checked this, I'm trying to avoid doing any work!). 14 little seconds...so close...

Not if you hold it for 15 seconds of the VT shot.

The theories are:

I'm going with number 1. Thats exactly what it looked like to me.

When will it all stop --------when they have been voted of I guess. All I can think is that Anton in particular can't wait for this season to be over. It has to be his worst what with all the sniping and moaning about him. Why can't it just be dropped now and let him enjoy the rest of their time together. He seems to like dancing with Laila either that or he is a really good actor.
Come on Anton show everybody how good you are and get through this week without problems and you never know you might even win!! As long as it doesn't go to the Judges, then it might be another matter!!

And I'm going with number 1. She kept staring at the floor (she always does it when dancing) trying hard to remember what to do next. Halfway through her routine she lost it completely.

Exactly. You can only hope its the annonymous nature of posting here that encourages such people and that in real life they are nicer.

Its probably a combination of all three. She was in pain, she was concentrating on doing the routine without putting weight on her foot and forgot what she was supposed to be doing. Anton most certainly would have known how long they have to dance for to get marked. Perhaps she thought she would do the best she could for half the dance and then finish.

I suspect that, as others have said, Jade's injury made Laila feel obliged to dance when she otherwise would not have.

Having said that, I do think she forgot the routine - but that may have been because of the stress she felt (although she does seem to do less training than the others)

I think her tears were genuine, but not from pain, more from the situation she found herself in, stopping the dance etc.

I agree with those who don't think the other celebs like her much. I remember a few years ago she was one of the first celebs to be exposed in a before and after photoshop when doing a shoot for maxim or something similar. The crew leaked the before shots because apparently she was such a diva and made herself very unpopular on set. All heresay of course, but the leaked shots were pretty funny.

There's not really that much point to the conspiracy theories. What she did dance didn't look so bad and probably wouldn't have seen her placed bottom of the board in scoring terms if she'd completed it, and wherever she did finish almost certainly wouldn't have mattered much anyway. Lots of people were always gonna say she had an injury, so let's cut her a break and vote for her. Added to all that, she's better than some others who are still left in anyway.

PS - I quite like that she moans quite often in her VTs. It's a welcome change to people thinking they need to keep one of those ballroom painted-on smiles going, both on and off the dance floor, for months.

Sometimes the cuteness gets a little icky so nice to see some sharp banter being exchanged.

Have not a clue if she was play acting or not, the strapping on her foot seemed very inadequate looked just like a tubigrip if it had been strapped properly maybe she would not have been in the pain she seemed to be in.

That said, she was lucky that happened as Anton was out of time for part of that routine criminal - and the basic action was all wrong too

I know in the past we have had many 'a heated debte ' over Anton but I do respect your dance knowledge, so why do you think he is still in the competiton if his Latin is so weak in your mind and some others. You know that I'm one of his strongest supporters and would defend him to the hilt. But I am interested in your views on this.

I've often wondered about that, the amount of hate and venom spat on this board is extraordinary. Perhaps people use it as a release so it doesn't spill over into real life.

good points they pretty much sum up my take on the whole thing. I have posted on this thread before, saying I am no big fan of theirs, but that is slowly shifting with all the tone of some of the 'conspiracy' posts ... - i am starting to feel sympathy for them and rooting for them to do well this week! I just take the view that everyone is different and of course in a line-up of showbiz-types there are always going to be some more diva-ish than others, Lalia's actions and reactions were genuine for her as far as I can see, and while I dont necessary admire her for them, thats fine with me.

They got the sympathy vote - they were last on the leaderboard and people voted for them - much worse people have been last on the leaderboard and saved. Neither Phil nor Ricky Groves should win this competition so i was not sorry that one of them went. If Ali and Ricky Whittle had been in the bottom two that would have been awful. In the end Laila was brave and went ahead with the dance. Give her a break people!

I do love debate trouble is on DS if you criticise anyone it is jumped on in all fairness you do know my opinion on Anton and I have refrained from any personal attacks on him and concentrated on the dancing.

Well as we are all aware SCD is a popularity contest first the dancing always comes second, having said that on the weeks Anton and Laila have done latin badly there has been couples who hve performed worse - I really do think they were lucky Laila was injured this week though as the basics of the rumba they did was poor and as I said earlier Anton was out of time. As the number of couples decrease there are less people to 'hide' behind and by the time they do their next latin dance the weakness IMO will really show
it will be interesting then to see how they get on

For the rumba in question it would be understandable if both partners were distracted by mentally watching the dodgy foot.

Lets review Anton's, partners, exit rounds and exit dances over 7 years:

No trend showing evictions after a latin round more frequently than a ballroom round. Anton had his one chance partnering Leslie Garrett, but came up against Natasha and Chris Paso Parker.

Anton does not appear to care much about improving his latin. Had he wanted to, he could of course have free lessons from the best.

Rantzen, Ravens and Garraway - Anton has certainly had his fair share of überduffers, hasn't he?

There's something not quite right about it. If they're faking it then its a very dodgy tactic that could have horribly backfired but I keep thinking theres definitely something fishy about Laila's injury. She was assesed by a doctor who left the decision to dance with her so clearly the injury was'nt too bad and clearly not as bad as Jades. Lailas was very clearly limping even while walking which doesnt add up with the expert assesment.

I have no access to Iplayer. Can someone say in what style of walk or run Laila went up the stairs to the green room after standing for the judges' comments?

Thanks for that, but do you not think that they have improved slightly with Laila being his partner this time round as she has tried whereas in the past some of his other 'girls' really did not have a sense of movement in them. I did think that lately it has not been so noticeable that he is not as smooth with the latin numbers. But there again I'm still trying to get to grips with learning to dance 3 years down the line!!! I thought I could crack it in 6 weeks. How naive!!

I don't think Laila 'faked it' exactly.

I think she's an egocentric wuss though.

And probably very difficult to train.
