I'll join you Sid.

You know there are days I actually like myself - and today is one of those days.

Like you I prefer compassion to cynicism.

Um, hi

There are so many comments I want to reply to but it would take forever!

I'm very clumsy. I've broken I've had 17 broken bones and countless more torn and pulled and ripped things. I'm clumsy

Anyway, I was doing a musical, a musical which involves marching (guessed what it is yet!) and I was late to get on stage one night so I was running backstage and tripped on a wire and felt something in my foot go pop and then lotssssssssss of pain Anyway, I went on stage and marched and stamped and stood and down and had to fall a sleep for a song. And it killlllllllleeeeeedddddd properly hurt.

But with a lot of gaffa tape around my foot and ankle (which took forever to get of my jazz shoe btw) I got on with it.

My point, and I do have one, is I'm an idiot. I fall over things, fall off things, walk into things and as a result, I've learnt to do anything through pain.

Laila does not strike me as the clumsy type or a person who has dealt with lots of physical injuries. Par consequent, with the amount of pain she was in to me it feels so genuine, so tangible throught the TV screen.

And d'you know what? The benefit of the doubt, it's this lovely thing

Bye!

I have to agree with the last few posters. I don't particularly warm to Lalia onscreen, but I still don't thik she'd lie about it. She did seen in pain and who are we to doubt her?

Why would she lie about it?

Besides, she looked in some serious pain, even just coming down the stairs at the beginning of the show. I thought she was very brave even considering dancing and the bit she did do I thought wasn't even half bad, although I couldn't help but wince in sympathy everytime she put weight on that leg.

If she was faking it (which I do not think for a moment!!), I do believe she should get an Oscar(c) for her performance. She sure convinced me she was in pain.

People make up illnesses all the time to get out of things they don't want to do. One scenario is that she was so mortified that she had to dance with Anton, that she would rather get a mild sprain than do the Rumba with him.
In terms of the swelling, when you strap something up, it always looks swollen because strapping is tight!
It's only one possible scenario of course and I may be wrong but it's not out of the realms of possibility.

You know till I came on good old DS the thought of her faking it never entered my head .

Personally I don't think she lied about her injury. I think she spent too much time when she was dancing worrying about her injury and about 10 or so seconds before Anton picked her up me and my mum were like she's about to burst into tears she's not going to be able to finish.

I think she was injured and I feel for her. I don't think she's the most liked backstage and personally haven't warmed to her but I can't see why she'd lie. The actual dance looked like it was okish, better then what I thought it would be with Anton and I think the only reason the might have disliked the dance would have been acting the romance/love out which 90% of the Rumbas on Strictly fail to have anyway.

That really sounds unlikely to me, but of course until we have proof any and all scenarios are possible. But I, personally, don't believe this one.

And people suffer genuine injuries all the time too.

It's surprising that some people's reaction is to automatically assume Laila was lying, as opposed to giving her the benefit of the doubt and sympathising with her.

LOL at all the medical experts on this thread!!! How does the NHS survive without you amazing skills that allow you to diagnoise an injury without having seen anything more than a short VT.

Just a couple of questions.

Why did Laila put her Ugg boots back on to go to the hospital?

and

Why did she then have the ice pack over the top of the boot? That's not going to be much help!

I just wished she hadnt danced on that ankle, I hope she hasnt made it worse. Im a Doctor and have spent many an hour advising people regarding ankle sprains which although not as serious as a fracture or a possible knee injury like Jade has probably suffered, they can be very painful.

However, the fact she was given medical advice that she could actually dance on it makes me wonder how serious her injury was. Im not saying it to be mean, but if that injury was to the extent it made her stop halfway through and she could barely walk on it and needed to be carried, she shouldnt have danced on it. I would have advised a patient of mine to elevate it and if they had to dance on it, wear some decent support rather than a bloody ridiculous piece of tubigrip. I cant help but be slightly cynical.

I used to be a dancer and badly sprained my ankle. I was advised to take 6 weeks off my dancing to prevent further damage to the joint. I went back, stupidly, after 3 weeks and my ankle was still terribly painful and I couldnt dance on it hardly at all and it set me back months.

Someone on another thread (or maybe even this one it's so long now) said she mouthed 'I'm ok'.

It's the new fashion -- virtual cooling.

'Sorry, they gave me an egg sandwich at the Ossy, and I've just farted.'

Could be wrong though; my lip-reading skills aren't great.

It's not out of the realms of possibility that Austin might be recalled to pair up with Katya if Jade doesn't continue and if Tuffers can't be a*sed to carry on.

Doesn't mean it's even remotely near the truth, though

Still, Formula 1 teams are now ordering drivers to crash for tactical reasons, so anything is possible, I suppose.

Laila: "Thanks for farting Anton. Our chances of coming back are now Gone With the Wind. You might as well do a Clark Gable at the end and carry me, to win a few votes."

(Anton then pulled a face, knowing how much she weighed.)

If a medic cleared her to dance it may have been painful but not as bad as it was made out to be. That, I feel, was supported by the lack of empathy from the claudiapit. There was a sever lack of empathy - noticable. I think she is a complete princess. Not happy with Anton because he's not a latin master - feeling fed up from the start because she didn't get Matthew or Ian. Negative toward latin for that reason and prepared to throw her toys out of the pram for any personal gain. I'm not the world's greatest Anton fan but he has stayed friends with most of his partners over the years but there is something about Laila I just 'don't get'.

I agree with you there. I want to like, Ive tried my best to get on board with her but there is something about her that I cant quite warm to. I think Ive been irritated about her attitude towards her Latin.

Anyway, I hope her ankle is ok.
