Tis rarely i get so annoyed that i have to come on here and vent ..But honestly.....I wanted to title the thread fastest thread my arse ..but thought it would be a tad unkind...But REALLY ( is there a icon for smiley with smoke coming out of its ears...)

I give you this and say no more....(and this was only in week two...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2MbpP31Zgk

I shall qualify and say that up until the madness of over marking of lisa i was not a huge fan of Austin...but in my uneducated eye this was a FAST jive ...not the tripe that was what i ( again an uneducated eye ) would pass as a fast jive ..I was going to post a link for vincent and louise jive put i cant find a link for the strictly series only the tour...

Ok im going to say it ...Fast my arse...(and to Edit ...Even the music was not as fast so HELLO>>>>>) Ok i feel better now...

Not only was it not particularly fast, but it was a poor performance overall. It lacked all the things that make a good Jive. Timings were all over the place. A shambles.
Yet 35 points if I recall correctly. For the weakest complete dance of the night.
Again the judges scored on overall merit and not on the actual dance.

It didn't look too fast to me, plus there were loads of pauses between the various moves.

I know that Jill and Darrens was ment to be "the Jive" but for ( imho) i preferred Vincents and Lousias Jive ..that was until i saw Austin and Erins....Maybe it was the music and the moves ...I just thought (FOR ME ONLY) was the best jive so far in the strictly franchise.....

Yeah, I know what you mean. The reason I mentioned Jill and Darren specifically was because (aside from it being considered 'the jive' by many) it was the first WOW jive i saw on the show, and 5 years later holds it's own as a great dance (so weh I hear jive I automatically think if those two). I agree that Louisa and Vincent, and Austin and Erin (especially in the final when they performed it) were pretty spectacular too.

34 points.

8,8,9,9.

Completely disagree it was the weakest complete dance of the night..... Actually, I thought it was by far the best of that night. However, if I recall correctly, Tom & Austin were the only two dancers worth getting excited over on that night anyway.

That said, I think it could easily have merited 7,8,9,8 (Len would probably have used the 9 paddle anyway).

I can still watch Austin's Jive now and love it. It felt like there was a bit of pressure on him to show he could do Latin, since Len had so generously given them a 9 in the first week.

Unfortunately, I think the really high scores helped set him up for the fall later in the series when his Latin starting lacking that little spark.

Austin and Erin went out in the quarter final.

I didn't think RW was worth more than 4x8's tonight - but then he wasn't the only one overmarked; I saw nothing worth a 9.

He did, but when they all came back to dance on the final, Austin and Erin did their Jive.

I did think Natalie did Ricky a disservice this week - that was so quick it looked silly in places and Ricky clearly couldn't keep up. If he'd had more time to perform and wasn't manically trying to get his feet in the right place it could have been a much better performance.

Yes! What were those stops all about?

Ah, perhaps that explains the pauses.

It looked great earlier in the week when it was fast, I was sorry to hear them tell Claudia that they had to slow it down. I will watch again, but I'm in the "didnt look particularly fast to me" camp.

PS: I much preferred Natalie and Vincent's Jive

I would suggest watching it again. Ricky and Natalie were clearly out of sync with each other. Also the choreography was mediocre. More concentrated on speed than on the moves.

Exactly. You sum it up nicely.

Strange thing is, the judges did mention the flaws but it had little or no effect on their scoring. Tactical voting on their part?!
Same thing happened last week, although that was an overall far, far better performance.

Have only just watched and caught up with the programme. High scoring but not high in technique or content and I know it had been toned down due to Rick's injury. Natalie was the centre of attention in this dance.

Ridiculous statement. I'm not a Ricky fan but even I can see he comes in for far more stick than any other competitor this series. This is all because he was good right from the start, which was interpreted as cocky. He is the most natural dancer of the series and yes he makes mistakes but this is because he is tested far more than anyone else and the judges can see that. However, whatever he does is wrong according to some on here.

I don't know what Natalie was thinking with the original choreography if they had to slow it down four times to get to what we saw last night. She would have done better to start with more realistic choreography for a celeb, with a routine that flowed better.

Watch Austin and Ricky's jives with the sound turned down and you will see that last night's tempo was definitely faster. That's not saying whose was the best, but the OP's original comment was about speed.

You think it is.

It certainly wasn't worth the marks it got , definitely not 9s.

I thought it was very ungainly and had too many pauses and more mistakes but not the worst dance of the night, that was Laila's rumba and it would probably have been the worst if she had been fit and finished it .

There wasn't much to choose between the rest at all last night .

Well it was if you consider the marks Natalie got. It was head and shoulders above hers. How she is still here is beyond me.

I do think Ricky is by far the best dancer of the current series. In fact after Jade had to pull out he's my favourite.
So it's not about Ricky bashing, it's about the judges overmarking. Clearly they know how the public votes and are steering towards the desired finale by giving high scores where on the occasion they shouldn't.

Whether it was the fastest jive ever in the world ever doesnt really matter....Natalie needs to understand that fast is not always good........every bloomin dance they do is done at 100miles an hour to use Rickys fav word ....rapid........I wonder if its done deliberately to cover up technique. Its much more difficult to dance beautifully slowly.

they spent half the dance apart posing at the audience
not very jive-like to me..
its the case of something being said and then repeated until it becomes a fact

craig 'getting to blackpool'
ricky ' fast jive'

I loved that jive.

Ricky W and Natalie's was not as fast as I thought it would be, but I thought it was good.
