I was about to post a rational response to this post, but in truth I cannot take such rantings seriously.
I probably shouldn't have done either but I've been knocking back the booze and it makes me garrulous...
I too share your thoughts on that - a rant that is so full of inaccuracies and a blindness to the facts doesn't deserve one.
Shame on all of you.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and just because this OP 's opinion does not agree with yours, you deride it.

I do not agree with some of it, but the OP is entitled to post an opinion and not be censored by you because you do not agree with them.

Where is the censorship? Choosing not to take issue with a post for any reason is not censorship.

By belittling the OP, you are bullying them into not posting.

Censorship in any language.

As you wish.

Therefore I would ask (nay, implore) the OP to continue to post his thoughts on this thread, as no such "censorship" or "belittling" was intended. I withdraw my earlier comment.

Sorry if I am repeating other peoples messages but the way I see it is:

Firstly, let's get real here, it is not the Olympics. It's a dance competion.

Secondly, this rule of sitting out for a week is not new it has been in force for while now as it has been used before. Bill Trunbull if I remember rightly. So it was'nt just last night.

Thirdly, Jade has consistently been near the top of the leaderboard and there was no reason to think she would'nt have been there again. The people in the dance off have been at the bottom of the leaderboard. So in that respect it made no difference.

Fourthly, Jade's injury had just happened and not dancing was on the advice of the doctor and if they had said she could dance without examining her first they could have been open to a law suit. Laila's was earlier in the day and Laila had the choice.

Lastly, cut her some slack this is her career we are talking about and she was clearly in pain, upset and scared.

Chin up Jade, I wishing you a very speedy and painfree recovery. xx

Censorship in any language.
So offering an opinion and a refusal to respond to an incomprehensible rant constitutes bullying and censorship?

The OP was free to express an opinion, I simply availed myself of the right to the same freedom.

Many times other members have disagreed with me - I've never considered their difference of opinion belittling, nor have I thought I was being bullied into not posting.

As you wish.

Frankly, I'm wondering if tvmad-alan, the OP, isn't really SKYtvmad-alan, one of a small group who come on to put the most negative spin possible about the BBC in general and the SCD producers in particular.

If their contingency plan for show-stopping injury is to give the dancer a free pass for a week, I'm in full support. Much better than waving them a final goodbye as they struggle into the taxi or the ambulance.

Don't think it'll help Jade much though. I'm guessing her 2010 athletics season is already seriously affected by this, and we should all hope that she can recover fully in plenty of time for 2012.

I don't know anything about this group of people but I haven't seen mad Alan (sorry tvmad ) post on the SCD forum prior to this thread. (Sorry if I'm wrong).

Maybe he was so annoyed at the injustice of allowing a professional athlete and fantastic dancer, who had just received a serious injury, the chance to dance again next week that he just had to come on and tell us all what he thinks of the BBC.

My opinion is that the BBC made the right decision. Though I doubt whether Jade will dance again. It won't be worth risking her career over. I am very sad for Jade and I hope she is feeling a bit better than she was yesterday.

Overall I think the BBC made the right call on this occasion and the 1-week rule for injured dancers is the correct one.

The only thing in my eyes that could have been done better was for Tess to make an announcement about the 1-week rule live on the show so the viewers could clearly understand the rules. I only found out about it because it came up on the Strictly Twitter feed.

When if ever does the one week bye rule cease to apply? If a contestant feigns an injury on tough semi-final Saturday he or she will get a free entry into the Final.

I do not agree with some of it, but the OP is entitled to post an opinion and not be censored by you because you do not agree with them.
And anyone else is entitled to reply as they so wish. If someone thinks a post is irrational, they are entitled to say so. The jist of the cited comments were that when one thinks a remark(s) is/are irrational, the best response is not to reply because any rational response is akin to banging one's head against a brick wall in such cases. That was certainly what I meant to imply.

Anyway, surely your post is doing exactly the same thing? Censoring someone because you don't agree with what they have done.

The rule allowing the BBC to reinstate a couple ends with the quarter-final, so I should think that the same applies here.

Totally agree. I can't believe the nature of some of these posts regarding Jade's injury, the poor girl was in bits and I would wager that in private SCD is the last thing she's worried about. Could the OP be worried that if she does come back she's a threat to their favourite. If the Beeb had done as suggested by the OP I for one would have sent a very nasty message to the show's producers.
Jade's injury was alot more convincing than laila's.

Hardly Jade I'm sure would have danced if she could. Laila was looking good until Anton lifted her at the point at which she couldn't carry on any more. Would a front runner in the competition really fake any injury in order not to dance and would another contestant give up in the middle of a routine if she wasn't able to dance through the pain (she obviously didn't blank so anyone who invokes the name or alludes to Matt DA here will be slapped down verbally hard).

Simple solution and I think fair , someone is injured and can't dance, so no one is eliminated that week. If the person is able to dance the following week then two couples will be eliminated, if the injury is more serious and they are out then just one couple is eliminated as normal. BBC don't seem to have any contingency plans.
I agree with this post. I kept expecting them to announce at the very end that nobody would be leaving this week. It seems very unfair that someone who danced has been made to leave, while someone who does nothing (albeit through no fault of her own) is allowed to stay. There were two people suffering from injuries this week and it would have been far better to hold the votes over to the next week (allocating Jade an average of the points she has accrued through the competition so far), then either losing two couples the following week, or dropping one and having an extra person in the final. Jade is one of the better dancers, but what if Ricky Groves, Natalie or Phil had been injured and Jade, Abi or Ricky Whittle had gone instead. Would that have been fair? I don't think so.

Thank you for your reply to this post....

The BBC is paid by us all and the money spent such a good show you would think that most if not all items that could have gone bad, could easy & fairly dealt with. ( I LOVE the BBC )

I did put in the post to say that I felt sorry that anyone is hurt in any way...

And I am sorry that she may have trouble with her real job and hope that she has speedy time to get well.

With all the money spent on votes to keep people in, it would nice to see fair show.

And reply to another postings... NO my best stars have not been knocked out by this last show. ( no sour grapes just hoping to see a fairer competition )

Is there a rule that if Jade can not make next week dose another person get voted out and make a shorter competition and the finale a week earlier???

PS Would love to see Ricky & Ali do a dance together.

I don't see the problem myself, I didn't have a problem with the show at all.

If Jade cannot make next week then she'll be eliminated. The BBC have the power in the rules to bring back a celebrity that has already been eliminated to keep the numbers up - maybe Phil?

Convincing??? That sounds like you suspect that one or other (or both) were faked. To borrow a phrase - shame on you.

Just looking as Laila dancing live, you could see that she was beginning to get tearful (presumably as the pain increased) until she quickly reached a point where she could not continue through the pain and broke into tears. For anyone who has suffered from a badly twisted ankle, you should appreciate how painful such a relatively minor injury can be when you are merely walking, never mind dancing.

It seems that those are the rules, and each couple dances in full knowledge of those rules.

My post was not so much questioning whether or not they were the rules and whether everyone knew they were (I daresay they were and did), but whether or not they were good rules. As I said, nobody is too bothered this time as Jade has been a consistently good dancer as was likely to have stayed, but presumably the same rules apply to Ricky Groves and Phil Tufnell, too? If they'd been injured and there had been a dance off between Abi and Ricky Whittle, would that have been fair? I suppose strictly speaking it would. It just would have been better to wait a week before chucking someone out IMO, and that applied to this week, too.

The rules are there, and they should apply the same to everyone. So, yes, if one of the less accomplished dancers was injured, then the same rule has to apply.

If that rule is not there, then you potentially have the situation where an accomplished dancer exits on doctor's order due to an "injury of the moment" and therefore does not have a chance to fulfil their potential.

It's swings & roundabouts of course, and the key phrase is "on doctor's orders" (which should remove or lessen the possibility of faking an injury).

To be honest, I think that any celeb who was injured and unable to dance wouldn't be voted out on that particular week.

They could theoretically have shown the dress rehersal dance and marked that for Jade, but in truth even if she was bottom of the leader board and Lalia second from bottom the chances of either of them being elimiated were slim to nil I would have said.

The minute there were 2 such obvious injuries, then regardless of whether they danced or were marked or given a bye then there were 2 places for next week filled.

And I agree that it would be a pity to see Jade - or anyone - leave if they are able to resume dancing the following week. I'd just like to see the rules changed in favour of not chucking anyone out if a dancer is injured one week, until it is clear whether that person will be able to resume their place in the contest. The public could still be told who was in the bottom two; they could add the public votes to the following week's scores, giving the injured dancer an average of their previous scores. They could fill the dance-off slot with a couple of pro dances, perhaps and end on the results of the public vote?

Which is a bit unsatisfactory too, really. While I truly don't doubt that Laila was genuinely in pain, I'm not convinced that their dance was looking all that promising. Of course, we'll never know for sure, but it would have been better if the scoring and voting hadn't been compromised by the injury factor.
