@Te Swampster

And if the injured person can compete the following week? They will have one couple too many (a couple who will have trained for their next dance, having been kept in that previous Saturday). So they drop that couple before the programme? Have an extra couple and lose two that week?

And you would have to give some thought as regards a time limit on getting an all-clear (especially as the programme has to be planned and couples prepared).

Not an ideal situation I would have thought. In fact, no rule would allow for an ideal situation.

I didn't suggest dropping anyone before the programme. What I suggested was letting all the couples perform and either dropping two of them or having an extra person in the final (How often have we ended up with a boring two-person final, anyway? We were only spared it again last year because of the BBC's scoring cock-up).

I did perform a late edit on my post avove.

Anyway ......

As I recall, there should always be three in the final anyway. Where there have been two couples it has been the lack of such contingency rules that have allowed it. They now have a number of contingencies planned for it would seem (although you will be hard-pressed to be able to plan for every conceivable contingency, especiall the closer to the end of the competition you get)..
