Hands up those who think the people on this website, who have moaned and groaned about having a upgrade, have been nothing but a pain in the ass since about three months after the product came out. And for what. So they can delete a program while recording, marvelous bloody marvelous, look how many people are now having trouble.

It's ok we who visit this site, we have good help with our problems off savvy, Gaseous Clay and GrahamIThompson and a few more. However there are people who don't know that they have had a upgrade and think there is something wrong with their equipment and have not got a clue how to put it right. And were quite happy as it was, because it was a very good product straight out of the box.

LOL the single cable using ones with loader 7.51 are the lucky ones then

i never had issues before the upgrade, and don't have any now post upgrade

Yep, there are plenty of people slating Humax because the HDR doesn't do something that some other device does.

Mind you, in a similar vein, I'm a bit peeved that my Lotus, doesn't have a tailgate, doesn't run on diesel and doesn't do 60+ to the gallon.

No real problems here, mind you I never worried too much about the pre update problems.

No problems here, I was happy before the new software, and am just as happy with it now.

I think members who start threads with the intention of stirring up trouble are the bigger pain in the arse.

In fact, most of the trouble on this forum is caused by people who won't just let others express their opinions on on topic matters.

Happy before the update: That's fine.
Unhappy before the update: That's fine.
Happy after the update: That's fine.
Unhappy after the update: That's fine.

People who won't stop wittering on about how they disagree with one of the above four options; they are the problem.

I've had precisely one glitch since upgrading, that was easily worked around.

Although it's not perfect (ie. behaviour following a power cut), and some parts of the upgrade haven't been tested in the wild yet (retaining ITV HD scheduled recordings following a schedule update) - not withstanding those points, I'm FAR happier with the HDR following it's upgrade than I was before.

If you are in a situation where you are having problems with the current software, and you need another upgrade to get the behaviour that you expect - well, perhaps you might begin to understand how some of us have felt for almost 12 months.

Oh, and if you want to point the blame, maybe you want to try BBC/iPlayer. All the fixes that we have wanted that have made the cut seem to be working fine - how many of the apparent problems have been introduced by possibly rushing the iPlayer update out?

Fully agree, it's much more usable now.

Not much of a contribution to the thread - but a question. As a Humax user who was always reasonably happy with the PVR out of the box. I work away from home, and, as luck would have it, I left home on the morning of update day. The PVR is left running while I'm away. Will it update in my absence, and if it does so, will it wipe my recording schedules? I shall be away until mid Jan by which time, I imagine, the update may not still be readily available.

If by, left running, you mean actively on, not in Standby, then it will not update.

If you get back and it's still OTA, you can either force an update by going into the Menu>Setup>Software Update>Automatic Update, or put it into Standby overnght and it will do it itself.

You will not lose any recordings or schedule.

The update is on the Humax website, if it's stopped OTA by the time you get back.

Thanks Les. The machine was left in Standby.

In that case, as long as you haven't had a power cut, it should have updated, with no impact to schedules etc.

Of course, it won't update the new Loader OTA, but unless you are a Diseqc user and need the fix in the Installation Wizard, you probably don't need to bother.

I am assuming that you were a 2 cabler, with version 1.00.03 before.

You know as well as I do that these forums have been totally dominated by people complaining about the performance of the Humax. It is ridiculous to suggest that the critisms have been stifled. There have only been relatively few threads and posts from people who were satisfied with it. It has always been my view that the silent majority of users (and these are the people who don't look at DS forums) were happy with it.

And before you have another rant - this is my view - of course I don't have any facts to support it!

Actually, if you really read the threads you will find that a lot of the discourse is about whether there really is a certain problem or if it's a local fault and if there is a work around.

I am very happy to hear the opinions of others. I just object to codicils that people who disagree with those opinions should not post.

I have many opions about lots of things and I respect the fact that others may have a different opinion to me.

What I object to is that

1. time and time again you refuse to accept that anyone may have a different opinion to you.

2. a person with a different opinion to you is wrong

3. you must always have the last word on anything.
