Recommended Android Apps
Thought I would start a thread where we could share recommendations for some of the best apps for the Google Android operating system.
The marketplace is organised in a way that sometimes means you can miss the latest 'must-have' app so thought this might be useful for Android users. I'll start off by recommending:

Locale - Automatically adjust your phone's settings according to your location
Record It! - Essential if you have Sky+/HD and want to remote record
eBuddy - MSN Messenger, AIM, Facebook Chat and others in one handy app
FeedR - Excellent RSS feed manager
BeebPlayer - iPlayer for Android
Twidroid PRO - Excellent Twitter application
Looking forward to hearing about more brilliant apps! |

No matches are returned in the marketplace for "Imusic".
I would also recommend 'Pkt Auctions eBay' as it's much better than using the eBay mobile site. Mobiwee Client also allows you to track the location of your phone using GPS. |

Best Game for me has to be Robo Defense or Tetris.
Best Apps, Handcent SMS, Power Manager, Shazam and Shop Savvy. |

mVideoPlayer has just been updated on the market with a revamped UI. Have to say some of the features really make it look and work a lot better than video on my iPod Touch.
I've also just downloaded the 'Lookout' app which provides free antivirus, backup and missing device location. |

Some good recommended games (as some people think Android games have a weakness in comparison to the iPhone - there isn't the range, probably, but there are still some good 'uns):
Bonsai Blast - Zuma Clone - very addictive and challenging at later levels Alchemy - A good 'mixing' game that is simple yet enjoyable Pocket Empires - For anyone who likes their MMORPGs - bit too involving for me but quite cool how it runs in the background while you're away (but best to check up on it on a wifi connection!!) (My personal favourite) - Cestos. Online play, pretty tactical game that is ridiculously addictive. If you haven't played it yet, do try it, it's awesome! I'm not hugely up on utilities yet, though I do have Advanced Task Killer which can be very useful at working out what processes you're running and what you don't need to use anymore. ShopSavvy is cool. I've not used these - but also be aware that because the phone is much more 'customisable' than an iPhone you do have the ability to download console emulators, so you could if you wanted carry around a pocket SNES/Gameboy/Megadrive with you (obviously the legal issues are your own discretion). |
