I don't think the BBC would want a show with two women. But I thought last night was really good; Tess suits a role where not so much improvisation is needed and Claudia was brilliant in the Tess Pit. She had a really good rapport with the dancers and really brought some enthusiasm to the show.

I know a lot of people wouldn't agree with me, but I think Claudia and Anton would do the show well together.

It would be reasonable perhaps for Tess to feel upstaged by Claudia taking over 'her job' was all I was thinking. Do we women not bleed a little?

They did a fab job. It was such a relief not having to suffer through Brucies embarrassing 'jokes'. Tess should present next year with Claudia in the back. No need for a man. Ronnie shouldnt have been there, he wasnt needed.

For -meisje-

When Brucie sent Ron in his place
The ruse sadly backfired in his face
Tess rose in esteem
So shuddup "Queen of Mean"
Claud and Tess have just proved that they're ace.

Girl Power has now raised its head
And Brucie can please stay in bed
Just for the while
Tess does it in style
And the Tess Pit is Winkleman-led.

It Takes Two, yeah, baby it's true
Two women in fact, toodleoo
To Bruce and to Ron
You've sung your swansong
Now it's goodnight to him and to you.

If Tess managed to land the 'top job' what reason would she have to feel upstaged by Claudia taking over her former role?

It's quite possible she's feeling upstaged after Saturday night, though, because by comparison she was.

I thought Claudia was great. I didn't really see the point of Ronnie Corbett as he didn't really do anything much. Tess was better out the front I thought. I would much prefer to see Claudia backstage and thought is was far better than Tess.

I'd have thought that Tess may have been more annoyed by Claudia describing herself as "helping out" on Saturday. Hardly a flattering description of Tess's usual role - although certainly an accurate one.

Actually, I'm not sure she'd be much good in front - she's brilliant at 1-2-1 or small-group work, but working a whole room is totally different task, it requires a lot of showmanship and self-confidence, and I'm not sure she has those qualities.

As I said elsewhere, don't know if Claudia would want to take over long term because of getting to see her children. Depends on how much time ITT takes out of her family life I suppose.

Well, you know what women are like. They'll probably go and have babies and stuff. We should probably ban them from the show entirely, really.

Back in October, I made two posts commenting on Tess -

Quote:
“I think Tess is probably quite a competant presenter, but she gets little or no opportunity to demonstrate her own personality in the present circumstances.”

Quote:
“I suspect that Bruce and his toadying producers have cast her in the role of Bruce's stooge, Bruce's assistant and Bruce's ego boosting arm candy so it's a bit much to expect her to shine under those circumstances.
it's hard to see what Tess could do with the raw material she's given.
Currently, she is so closely associated with Forsyth that it's impossible to tell what she might be capable of in a different situation.”

Got to tell you - it's a lovely feeling when you can say "I told you so!"
Just wish the BBC would listen!

I agree, OP. I say, ditch Bruce, keep Tess on stage with the judges and Claudia backstage with dancers/celebs

Tess & Claudia did just fine and it was still an enjoyable show. I didn't miss Bruce Forysth at all.

I agree with most of the posts here. Claudia was brilliant in the Tesspit and Tess seemed to handle the main role competently.

As mentioned as well, I think the producers are quietly pleased with this and should provide them with scope when thinking who should replace Brucie in the future.

I agree. Let the girls run the show with a slightly revised format.

Post of the thread! Fantastic!! I am most impressed.

I see what you mean re Tess and Claudia but if Tess were to be given the "big" front of house position I'm sure she wouldn't mind leaving the funny quirky bits to Claudia. She is used to being the straight man anyway and I do get the feeling they quite like each other although I may of course be wrong.

My first post on the forums - hi all!
Just wanted to agree with people who think that Saturdays show was so much better with Tess and Claudia presenting - for the first time I didnt have to watch it on playback to avoid Bruce and his 'jokes',it was nice to watch live for a change. Ronnie Corbett was totally unecessary but a minor irritation in comparison - sorry Bruce, its time to leave it to the ladies!

Hi callie_donia - welcome on board

Totally agree with your post. Why not two ladies? As I said on another thread, Ant and Dec host plenty of programmes together don't they?

Thanks Lotty
No reason at all why two women cant handle the show, Tess looked more comfortable presenting the scripted bits and Claudia is great at the spontaneous stuff so they make a good team!

Tess and Claudia were a great combination. I found it quite patronising that Ronnie Corbett was shipped in as a token male....can the girls not manage without some testosterone to spur them on

Welcome callie_donia

I agree with you - the ladies handled the show very competently and I don't really understand the tv's fixation with having one male/one female presenter (even on the news!).

Maybe the nicest thing about Saturday - and possibly the most difficult thing to actually put a finger on - was that Tess and Claudia looked like a proper partnership.
Tess usually has to play very much second fiddle to the ego that is Bruce (despite the fact that technically, she's the one who controls what's happening as he refuses to wear an earpiece) whereas the two women worked as a team with neither trying to behave like the alpha male figure.

Was Corbett supposed to take on that role?
If so, it shows just how out of touch the BBC has become!
