Was Terry Wogan unavailable?
Bruce gets ill so the most apropriate replacement was definitely NOT Ronnie Corbett.
Surely it should have been Terry Wogan, the original presenter of Come Dancing back in the 1970's? I know he is currently mustering up all his strength for Children in Need but as soon as I heard Brucie would be absent I though dear old Tel would get the gig.But no, they draft in Corbett, ridiculously too short to present with Tess, out came the same old jokes about his height  and he babbled on and on and on at the start of the show, presumably thinking this was some sort of coup for the SCD. ![]() Claudia did brilliantly in the Tesspit ..... she could have presented the show for that matter, left Tess where she always is, and they could have just dropped Ronnie Corbett. If anything like this happens again I hope they will have some decent back up plan ....... it was almost as bad a debacle as the semi final vote last year. If Terry was unavailable, how about the lovely Gethin Jones .....now that would have been a bit of a treat.

I think Gethin is filming something for Sky.
I wondered about Terry as well. |

Terry Wogan?
Ooo No! We couldn't afford it. If he took nearly £10,000 each year just to present Children in Need for decades as he did, think how much he would have wanted for Strictlly. |

Terry would be a great replacement for Bruce when he leaves permanently but i think it would be too much of a commitment now he is actually scaling down his work. Perhaps a younger good looking male presenter would be very welcome by the female viewers i wouldnt say no to Gethin anyway!

I would have expected a lot of moans and I have moaned at the BBC myself on occasion but one should consider the real facts as I see them. I think the BBC should be congratulated
![]() One should also remember the huge contribution that Bruce makes to this show, without him it is a loss of at least 20 minutes! Who else is available who can sing dance and joke but also carry a show like Bruce - not many around. The situation last evening was a real crisis of time! Not only Bruce being out but also one dancing couple from around 3 p.m. and the the second dancer falling down stairs at 4 p.m.! If she had failed to dance the show may have been cancelled altogether. I would say Ronnie was brought in just to fill around 12 minutes to assist Tess then came the two dancer crisis. Think for one moment the hair tearing difficulties the producers would face. No, BBC, you did a really good job and we do hope this string of bad luck changes from now on ![]() One small point though; please Len Goodman, these are amateur dancers please do not keep demanding professional results - particularly of the lovely Ali |
