Possible Bug: Manual change record frequency

With the previous s/w and loader I was able to record a radio programme, then set the record frequency to weekly so it recorded the next episode. As BBC Radio do not have series links.

Unfortunatly the Humax won't allow me to record more than one frequency change (as listed above) in the schedule with new loader s/w

I set Humax to record 'Walking Through History' 11.30pm (today) on BBC Radio Scotland, changed record frquency to weekly, then set 'All in the Mind' to record BBC Radio 4, 18 Nov 2009 16.30 weekly.

As soon as I press ok on the weekly frequency change on the next recording, the Humax says can not record, clash, and changed the time and date of the first recording (in my case Walking Through History) to 03.14am, and the same for the new recording)! I therefore can not set further recordings where the frequncy has been changed and my first recording has been automatically changed by Humax (so won't record the actual programm!)

Extremely odd anyone else had this with manual recordings?

Can you replicate?

J

Are you setting them from the EPG and then going into Schedule>Edit to edit the repeat patterns?

If so, the Release Notes say you can't do this any more, it will dump the schedule with some odd date in the past I think. If you are setting up more than 2 with this odd date, it will think it has a clash at that time.

You now have to set them up manually from the blank timer at the bottom of the Schedule list.

Rgds.

Les does that not only apply to recording set before the change?

These are new recordings.

If it is the case surely that is a bug they created? Other epg provides can offer that facility!

strangely I had a reservation set proir to the s/w update and it performed perfectly, but as I've done a factory reset I have had to set the recording from a blank timer as savvy says

It's the other way round. Ones you have set up from the EPG and edited before the update wll continue to work (as long as you don't edit them again), any set up after the update have to be created from scratch manually.

Yes, a major bug that they've introduced, and they even knew about it because it's in the release notes ! Is this the quality of firmware we must accept after waiting for more than 6 months?

How many people read the release notes, and they're no excuse for abysmal functionality. To summarise, the behaviour is now:

Select a programme to record from the Radio Programme Guide.

Go into the Schedule, select Edit and change to "Weekly".

Return to the Schedule which confirms the set data.

But the recording doesn't happen because the next time you go into the Schedule you will see it's set a programme of zero length in the year 2038.

As far as I can see there is no way to correct the date except to scroll back through about 1500 weeks in the calendar, i.e. 1500 button presses or many minutes of the erratic auto-repeat.

So now, the timer has to be set manually requiring at least ten times more key presses for a long title like the one it "lost" for me today: "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue".

Very nicely put at the end.

It's certainly is no laughing matter though if you like to record from the radio. Typical Humax rushed programming.

They have had a year to get details like this right - and because they admit it in the release notes, what do they expect, a medal for honesty?

Another unfinished/sloppy piece of programming is when you have finished playing something from an external USB drive and then when you have finished and come out of the recording, it resets to the main hard drive list of recordings again. Why? I might want to play something else from that location straight after.

Shame some things like this let them down really, because overall I think it has been a very useful firmware release which has increased the usability of the box.

Perhaps they will include a minor tidy up firmware release with Iplayer?

Patrick”

Or you might simply wish to delete the programme you've just watched. I agree this functionality is very poor especially as it take so long for the box to retrace it's steps to the folder in question or at least it does on my ext Hdd as I have many other folders containing my photo collection.
