I noticed Lionel Blair sitting behind Ronnie Corbett on Sat . I think he would be very good to take over when Bruce retires. He is passionate about dancing and used to have his own dance troupe.

For some reason, I've always found Lionel highly annoying.

Why do we have to have some doddery old bloke??? He would be just as bad as Brucie walking down those steps at the beginning and do his little shoe shuffle...ugh

I am serious. Lionel is used to working with a live audience and used to be a top dancer.

USED to be. He's not been on TV for years.

Why on earth would the BBC wish to further alienate the younger audience by employing another doddery old fool?

Crikey, people will be wanting Tom O'Connor next.

You are joking, surely

I thought Tess did a brilliant job and it just shows what a (much) younger presenter can do. It's not a comedy show and you don't necessarily need someone who knows about dance. A half decent professional presenter has just shown us exactly how bad Bruce is now and it's time to put all these geriatric guys to rest. And I speak as a geriatric myself lol.

You are just as patronising to young people as Jay Hunt in thinking that young people only want to watch young people.

You'll find that most people just want to enjoy someone who is excellent at their job along with being entertaining.

Actually I think what the OP meant was we dont need someone who is over the age of 70 and who has an ego bigger than the show itself.

They dont have to be young young but someone who appeals to all ages would be preferable.

As much as I love Lionel Blair, I think scd needs to think in terms of younger livelier presenters to give the show a lift - it's all got a bit twee at the moment. If it's not careful it is going to fall into the same trap that the old Come Dancing finally faded into.

Hmmm.

Swap a 77 year-old for an 81 year-old.

That's forward thinking.

It made me giggle seeing Lionel looking enviously over Ronnie's shoulder. I'm sure he blagged his way into the studio on the vain hope he would be asked to stand in at the last minute, incase Ronnie, for example should slip coming down the staircase
