Lionel Blair would be excellent to take over when Bruce retires

For goodness sake, could we have a male presenter that is younger - and straight!! And not Vernon (Tess's husband). If the BBC are going to cull any female over 35 in SCD, there needs to be a balance, rather than the painful elderly man, nubile woman turn which is the Bruce/Tess combination.

I can't actually believe I'm saying this, but Bruce would be preferable to that! And I really can't stand Bruce.

Blairs whistling teeth on itt tonight were awful. I couldn't stomach them or the smarmyness week after week.

It needs to be someone younger.

If you notice whenever Lionel is on Claudia's programme he fights for the limelight.

He was on tonight and whenever Claudia asked any of the other guests questions-he jumped in.

I could not watch if he was the presenter. Too slimy and false.

if they want camper they can also add Graham Norton or Barrowman to the mix...hopefully none will get the gig if Brucie gives up...but i doubt he wont give it up.
John Barrowman MWAAAARRRRRRRRRR (drool)

Flirts just enough to give a lady hope. We know there's no chance really but its a nice dream.

Nooooooooooooooo!!! It would rapidly turn into "John Barrowman's Strictly Come Dancing". This show is about the dancers' stories, not a host who's too pushy and has a girly giggle plus ageneral tendency to act OTT (as shown recently on "...80 days").

Just like the awful 'Bruce Forsythe's Strictly Come Dancing' that we have now!

I've noticed that as well, he's always interrupting & interjecting on others conversations. Also heard him on a local radio interview a while ago and he sounds a very bitter twisted vindictive and spiteful old man.
Also that VT 'clip' of him on ITT last night trying to dance with some poor girl on SCD was just cringe inducing/awful.
IMO a good advertisement for involuntary euthanasia.

Why should the presenter of this show always be drawing their pensions??? There are far more personable people who are much more relevent than all the old codgers the Beeb keep fosting on us.

I thought Tess did a brilliant job and it just shows what a (much) younger presenter can do. It's not a comedy show and you don't necessarily need someone who knows about dance. A half decent professional presenter has just shown us exactly how bad Bruce is now and it's time to put all these geriatric guys to rest. And I speak as a geriatric myself lol.
Quite the opposite, I'd have thought. Think back to the early days of Ready, Steady, Cook! when it was presented by Fern Britton. It worked with her as a presenter because she didn't know much about cooking. I haven't been able to watch it since Ainsley Harriott took over. He's ok as a chef but he doesn't work as the presenter because he can't refrain from interfering.

Using the same logic, a presenter who can't dance, who isn't a comedian and who would keep the focus on the contestants rather than themselves would be ideal. I know some people found Tess a bit bland on Saturday but if she had a script that was tailored to her instead of to Bruce, she'd probably do very well on a long-term basis. At least it wasn't all about her on Saturday. Brucie is a legend but he's a legend who should retire.

If you have to have a male presenter - then the list is endless. Favourites would be:

Paul O'Grady (so funny)
Graham Norton (totally irreverent)
Aled Jones (experienced presenter who has the same knowledge of dance as one of the judges)
Julian Clary (for the same reason)
Aled Jones or Chris Hollins would get my vote. A presenter would be better than a comedian: much as I like them all, I've a feeling that none of Paul O'Grady, Graham Norton or Julian Clary would work, because the show would end up being too much about them. What I liked on Saturday was it really felt that the focus was more on the contestants than it does when Brucie's busy making bad jokes.

Oops - not even thought of Chris Hollins. Yes, Yes, Yes - he is a must for my wish list. He would, as Pop Larkin once said, be "perfick".

No, no, no the man is far too hyper. I think he would ruin it. The judges, contestants and professionals wouldn't get a word in edgeways

Definitely not Lionel Blair, he's loathsome. That ridiculous half-dyed hair job, and smarmy grin makes me shiver. We need somone younger, fitter, decent looking, and if they can tell jokes and do a bit of singing and dancing, so much the better. I think Brian Conley would be great. Went to see him in one of his shows and he was fantastic.

Please PLEASE no. I saw the show Simply Ballroom that he hosted, and although he was relatively low key he still set my teeth on edge. You don't know how lucky we are with Bruce....

I don't care who presents it. I just want Basil Brush to be a contestant one year.
