On the thread to vote for our 'Least favourite' Ricky W seems to be in front, and I was wondering why. What is it people don't like about him?

He's possibly the best celeb dancer of the series, but doesn't "show off", in fact he seems quite modest. He is hard working, good looking and got a fab body; he also has a great pro partner.

So, I'm curious, why so much dislike?

i agree i dont know why he hasnt been liked so much

I think it is the rumours that he had 6 months of training before the show that have done for him

Personally, Natalie irritates me intensely which doesn't help. She seems very full of herself to me and her facial expressions when dancing (smiling in tango) put me off completely. I also read Ricky's blog once and found him very conceited. Full of "oh nat's the best nat says i'm good too, i'm the only one who did a samba roll in the samba which is bad cos a samba roll should be in every samba". Apart from the faux humility there isn't much of a personality there. Oh, and I don't find him attractive at all. Great body, but that's it.

He's a good dancer, yes, and I'd rather he won than Natalie C, for example, but I'd prefer a slightly worse dancer that has a personality I actually like win over him.

I also find her a bit annoying, although I think it's just her Aussie competitiveness that does it, reminds me too much of their cricket team's attitude. It's ok to be competitive but just don't act competitive

I don't mind him so much I just think he'd be a lot more popular with a different partner.

He's not alone with that, quite a few of them do. And then again, some of them also have dance training backgrounds - Jill Moneypenny for example, who was still amazingly popular.

I dunno he just seems to be all about perfect dancing and very little else, plus his uber competitive win at all costs partner does him no favours.

Also that unbuttoning his shirt to his navel even on ITT annoys me no end!! I'm neither interested in his face or his body!

Finally (for now) he's Calvin from Hollyoaks and that character is irritating enough by association.

I dont understand the dislike either. He's a talented dancer, who seems like a harmless enough guy. What gives?

I haven't read Ricky's blog (or anyone else's come to that) I've only seen him on strictly. But I like Natalie. She's a great dancer, and good choreographer, I don't find her at all full of herself - not like Erin!

Agree with you on that, I think someone like Lilia may have got him to lighten up a bit and her popularity may have rubbed off on him.

I agree that her choreography has been very good and she's a pretty good dancer. To be honest I'm finding it difficult to pinpoint exactly why I dislike her so much, it's probably irrational and she may be a lovely person if I got to know her, but it's just one of those cases where she irritates me beyond belief to the extent where I can't watch her on ITT without wanting to slap the tv screen.

On a slightly different note, I do hope that if Lilia's back next year she gets a decent partner who can last for a few more weeks. She's lovely and a great dancer and definitely deserves to hang around for a few more weeks than she has done lately.

What is curious is that you yourself havent named one trait in Ricky that makes a person likeable.

Modest and hard-working are things that one might find admirable, but they are hardly warming. The other two are purely physical and I am sure you arent suggesting for one minute we should be so shallow as to "like" someone based on their appearance

I didnt vote RW as my least favourite this week, but I'm not surprised really. The guy has little depth which I guess is why we always see his chest every time he is being interviewed (take note Ricky, not all of us find that attractive).

I'll have to disagree with you there. I love modest and hard working people, as opposed to arrogant and lazy people. There arent enough modest and hard working people in the world these days.

I like Ricky because he seems like a happy guy, dedicated, hard working, caring and appreciative of others. He seems like a good friend to the other contestants and is obviously well liked by a lot of the SCD professionals - so he must be a nice guy.

Some people cant see past the pecs and the presumed arrogance and try to see the personality that is subtle and not as extroverted as some of the other 'bigger' personalities in the competition.

Everyone sees everyone else differently...

I think I have plenty of positive attributes but not everyone's going to like me

Similarly, I think some people are scumbags, but these people have plenty of friends!

He is a good dancer......he is good looking........but I find him dull with no personality and it doesnt help that he is with Natalie who I havent taken too. Add to this some rumours of previous training and some rather unfortunate things said on his blog and you have a person that doesnt interest me in the slightest.

I'll give you the blog thing, I cringed when I read it. I did wonder why he wrote it but then I thought perhaps he had a weaker moment and had heard about some of the things his detractors have said. It cant be nice to read nasty things being written about you and I know he does read the forums.

However, I think its unfair if people dont take the previous training thing with a pinch of salt. Ricky himself has stated he went to a couple of salsa classes with his GF and it was really unprofessional of Richard Dunwoody to imply that he had secretly had extra training.

I certainly don't dislike him and I have really enjoyed some of his dancing but he isn't a favourite of mine. That's due to a combination of him being a bit meh and also due to him having Natalie as a partner.

He is a great dancer and I think with another pro he would have been much more popular.

I don't dislike him, but I am disappointed, I can't see that much improvement over the weeks, I expected more. (my fault, not his)

He eats babies and pees on the toilet seat, allegedly. His partner Natalie 'Terminator 4' Lowe is a T-X series terminatrix built by Skynet and sent back from 2035 to prevent Ian Waite from winning Strictly with Jade Johnson (she zapped Jade's knee with a laser beam on Saturday from one of those crazy eyes people keep going on about), cos when they win, Ian finds himself so happy that he turns straight, marries Jade and their child grows up to be the One who stops the machines from taking over the world, allegedly.

Oh, and because he only knows two adjectives to describe any dance ... fast or rapid, not allegedly. Could also be some people like other people better, but wouldn't like to go out on a limb on that one.

Like others, it's Natalie that is clouding my opinions on Ricky W, for me, she's too competitive, and feels the need to choreograph everything at a very quick pace as if the quicker the routine, the more impressive it is (when in fact, especially in most Ballroom, I prefer slower routines). If Ricky had got a more appealing pro dancer, like Flavia or Lilia, I would probably really like him.

Does it matter that he had a few salsa classes before hand? I think that most actors, pop stars etc will have done some trained dancing in the past. They are still amateurs all the same.

You can tell that Ricky has natural rhythm, something that cannot be taught.

Dare I say that us English find it difficult to like people when they are good at something, especially when they are mixed in with people that are not? Don't we like the people that give it a really good go but don't quite make it?

I always will put dancing ability above personality as eventually they all irritate me to a certain extent () and I really don't find anything that objectionable about Ricky.... at the moment.

I was pretty indifferent to Ricky as a person (although i admired his dancing) because i felt i hadn't really seen enough of his character to judge what kind of person he was.

I started to take more notice of him when my favourites Ali and Brian were in the DO. In the VT shots of Brian upset afterwards it is Ricky who is there supporting him with his arm around him and obviously giving him words of comfort. I noticed the same again when they got their 40 for the VW - there was Ricky in the background with a great big beaming smile on his face, cheering his head off with his hands above his head clapping and you could hear him shouting Ali, Ali Ali.

Anyway what i'm trying to say is that maybe his problem is that hes not being portrayed that well in his VTs and interviews and its only when you take the time to really look that you see a decent bloke who doesn't deserve most of the rubbish thats spouted about him on here.

They do me as well but no more so than Chris's horrible hands or Natalie's clumpiness.

His feet are just a drawback he has.
