Hi Guys,

I'll be chatting to each soap's producer over the week and wanted to give you the opportunity to suggest possible questions to ask.

The focus of the piece is, like last year, an end-of-year retrospective piece on each soap and its current state of play, as well as a brief 2010 preview.

If you have any specific (or general!) questions for Lucy Allan (Hollyoaks), Diederick Santer (EastEnders), Gavin Blyth (Emmerdale) and Kim Crowther (Coronation Street) about this year's storylines or characters, then please suggest below.

Don't forget to identify the producer and/or soap!

Cheers,

Kris

*Note that not all suggested questions will be asked. Suggested questions may not be asked in the same way they are suggested. They may be re-phrased or tweaked before asking or before the final copy appears on DS.

EE - Santer your time is nearly up with the show. You've done some fantastic things for the show, what is your highlight of your time on the show and what aspects of your work are you most proud off?

Corrie - The recent axings of Wiki, Daryl, Poppy and reducing Amber's screen time have all proved to be unpopular decisions as fans see their being other characters who were much more deserving of the axe (Sean, Fiz, Kirk and Ches for example), why did you come to these decisions and do you regret them?

E/dale - The Sharma's have mentioned their parents while the Bartons have mentioned their nan a few times, are their any plans for these older characters to join the show and if yes have any plans begun to be produced for the characters?

Oaks - The new students haven't been the strongest bunch the show has ever seen, however Charlotte has to be one of the shows best additions in recent years are their any plans to use her to her potential? Plus Cindy and Darren should be together, will Tony stop them from getting together?

Kim Crowther:

Why did she feel the need to give the viewing audience, Molvin?

Why hasn't she begged Gray O'Brien to stay?

To Susan Bower in Neighbours:

Will we ever see Angie Rechecchi? As Ramsay Street needs a larger-than-life eccentric character after Janelle Timmins, and the Coffee Shop needs its matriarch!

Angie needs to return and meet the new member of her family: Callum Rebecchi!

She needs to return and spice things up a bit!

Santer: Looking back on your time at the show, are there any storylining decisions or casting decisions that you regret? Is there anything you would've done differently given the chance?

Santer: How much of an influence does feedback on storylines affect future plots? Do you like it when the show takes risks or are there times where it's important to play safe?

Santer: Any tips for your successor, Bryan Kirkwood?

Gavin Blyth: The wide range of Emmerdale characters have been used well this year, but are there any characters who you feel we haven't seen enough of in recent times?

Kim Crowther: What do you feel is the most important aspect of the Street? The comedy, the drama or a good blend of both?

Diederick Santer. As a parting gift can you please make sure Bryan Kirkwood signs up Tameka Empson full time in her role as Kim Fox!

Seriously though. If you had the chance to change just one thing from your time in charge. What would it be

Kim Crowther: We know the Tony saga had to be changed to cater for the pregnancies of Alison King, and more recently Samia Smith. How much does what we have seen onscreen differ from the original direction intended for the storyline?

Santer: Danielle's death proved to be very contraversial, with many complaints that it was a mistake to kill her off. On reflection, do you still believe you made the right decision with this storyline?

Blyth: Before you arrived the soap was languishing with nons top comedy, flat storylines and even flatter characters. however you have introduced better character dynamics, better characterisation and even better writing in general i feel. you have made great plans for the still new family "the wyldes" and introduced two other clans that, along with the wyldes have effectively become the dramatic basis of the show, but some characters like pollard, val and the dingles (apart from debbie, cain and charity) have been languishing in either sub-plot or comedic hell. will any od these underused characters be given more serious storylines or will they continue to be exploited for pantomime comedic value the like of which was more common with your predecessors.

Santer: What storyline would you like to have exploited and developed more than you got the chance to?

Lucy Allan: Any chance of drama on a more consistent basis?

Crowther: do you really think people actually LIKE watching the "molvin" affair?

Kim Crowther:

.What is your reaction to the recent criticism of the Molly and Kevin storyline?

.What is the latest on Michael Le Vell's decision to quit if he the affair storyline is not axed?

.What was the reason for the axing's of Daryl, Wiki and less screen time for Amber. What is your reaction to people criticizing these axing's and saying that many were much more deserving of the axe?

.Will we be seeing Janice pursue her dreams of becoming a nurse ( please ask this Kris- I've wanted to know for a while!)

Diederick Santer (EastEnders)

you have been successful in luring back to EastEnders well loved characters such as Ricky, Bianca and soon to be seen Carol Jackson, was there anyone else you really wanted to bring back but were unable to persuade?

Kim Crowther: After much criticism of several storylines (Molly&Kevin - Tony&Maria) created whilst you have been producer and axes of several characters (Darryl, Amber) and introductions of others (Uncle Uhmed) - do you still stand by these choices you have made?

EE: Diederick Hiya would it not be possible to recast bradley as the whole nation wants bradley and stacey back together for good.
EE: Diederick Will the mitchells financial situation increase after archies demise, assuming peggy inherits all his wealth.
EE: Diederick Thanks for some cracking storylines over the last few years. You realy improved the show from where it was. The tony/ whit storyline and danielle/ronnie storyline were thebest for me. Which was the highlight for you?
Thanks.

I only watch Emmerdale and Coronation Street, but this question can go accross the board, and possibly gain more respect the more honest they answer:

Do you have any thoughts on what didn't work or could have gone better in the last 12 months?

Lucy Allan/Hollyoaks:

Why has Hollyoaks become so focused on teens/school kids this year?

The show has lost many strong characters over the past 18 months. Do you feel that characters like Max/OB/Justin/Warren/Louise/Russ/Clare/Sarah (plus Hannah and Zoe) have been adequately replaced?

Are you taking on board any of the criticism it has received on this (and other) forums?

What went wrong with the Roy family?

Gavin Blyth (Emmerdale) - Are there any plans to bring Daz back? Would you consider him returning now that he's been punished?

Only reason I ask is because since his exit, Victoria has become a filler character

I was totally gonna ask a daz question too yay to that person that did lol

I think I may also as I would really like a question to be asked to him about it and if theres more questions maybe the chance of it being answered is more likely

My questions are to Gavin Blyth (Emmerdale)

I really loved the storyline between Daz (Luke Tittensor) and Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) it was my favourite storyline on the show and im dispointed that its no longer on the show and that Daz(luke) is gone
Were you suprised at how well recieved the storyline between Daz and Victoria was and how loved they are with fans ? And will you consider continuing there storyline and giving the viewers the reuinion they would really love to see

My second question is
Will you at some point bring Daz Eden (Luke Tittensor) back to emmerdale?

lol thats my two please ask them id be over the moon if they were asked

A question for EastEnders

What does the future hold for Billy Mitchell? Will he still be with us this time next year?

In my opinion the character has become one-dimentional and pointless.

For Lucy Allan:

What are you going to do about the valid criticist that you are focusing to much on the characters at Hollyoaks High School, and not enough on the older characters.

What are you going to do about improving the writing with so many episode ending in an anti climax.

What are you going to do about winning back viewer confidence in Hollyoaks.

What are you going to do with replacing the likes of Zoe, Hannah, Sarah, let alone Warren & Justin.

Are you going to axe cast members who obviously are not performing or are past their sell by date.

Are you going to stop ruining characters for the sake of a storyline turning them into figures of hate.

Why was Ash Roy axed when he was not the weakest member of the Roy Family, and will you admit it was a mistake to axe him now.

What are you going to do about actually giving characters a personality, rather than have them come across as faceless nobodies or poor clones of previous characters

Don't you think showing characters bedhopping from one person to the next gives a negative view about relationships, and what are you going to do about it.

What are you going to do to prevent more of talented cast members leaving.

If you are bringing back old cast members will you bring back the ones that were simply popular, or those that can actually act.

Whats the betting that even if these are actually asked, LA just does what she normally does in interviews, with critical questions and either ignores or lightly side steps them

Coronation Street:
How might the Tony/Carla storyline or Tony/Maria have turned out differently if the actresses hadn't gone on maternity leave?

Kim Crowther: upon reflection, and in light all the criticism, does she still think the Kevin/Molly storyline was a good idea?

Gavin Blyth: Emmerdale has been on top form this year, but does he feel the show now has too big a cast? Any plans to axe characters, and if so, whom?

Deiderick Santer: Is there anything he wishes he's done differently during his successful tenure on the show? And well done on bringing back the brilliant DCI Marsden - any chance DI Keeble could come back too...?

Diedreck Santer

Kim Crowther

Lucy
you came in after later, was it abig step going into the main show and are you pleased with what has happened

You have focused ont eh teenagers do you reckont his was a good move

If you could turn back time what storylines or charcter developmetns would you not have done?

What will you do with Jake and Nancy in the new year will they make up or you going to continue the hatred?

Santer
Barbera Windsor, Charlie,Josie have all announced their departure what do you take to this news as they were all were within a month of you announcign your departure and would you like to include them in the 25th anniversary

You have bought alot of new characters in as well as old do you think you had the right balance and with the 25th do you reckon you are bringing to many back in one go?

Excellent move on brining the jacksons back, what about diane and with peggys exit would you bring grant back?
