They seemed to say it was because the doctor said no way to Jade and in Laila's case it was up to her.

I don't think it's fair myself and would say the BBC are probably quite glad that the situation didn't arise.

The doctors said that it was safe for Laila to dance on her foot, whereas it wasn't safe for Jade to dance. i.e level of pain was not taken into account, only whether the injury would be seriously aggravated.

Len seems to be hiding behind Craig's coat-tails, I really think he would have voted Ricky/Erin out had Craig not mentioned the mistake.

Since Len usually notices mistakes (even when he speaks first), I think that is highly unlikely. In any case he usually takes pleasure in disagreeing with Craig.

Nonsence.

Jade had a serious injury, the doctors said she couldn't dance even if she wanted to.

The doctors felt Laila's injury was not a serious & they stated that she had the option to dance or sit it out.
She chose the latter. I'm not sure how that shows favoritism.

One thing they didn't entirely make clear though was if, had she sat it out, Laila could have counted that as a free pass week or if the judges would have had to score her all zeroes and it would be left to the public to save her or not from there.

IE, Jade's case is clear - doctor's note says you can't dance, so you get to use the once only free week pass through to next week.

Laila's case I didn't hear a clear ruling on. She's got an injury, doctor doesn't rule you out from dancing, but says it's your choice if you want to ... can you claim your one free week pass for injury or not? I didn't hear anyone say definitively, and maybe they didn't want to.

So she could have chosen to have a bye as well?

If not seems silly the person with the more serous injury gets a bye to a week that they will probably be unable to compete in whilst a dancer who has an injury that probably will be OK for the next week has to risk going out

Because the doctor said she was ok to dance but said Jade couldn't.

Oh I see, still doesn't make total sense (I mean the BBC's application of the rule, not you who were kind enough to explain this to me in words of one syllable )

I mean things like, if the bye rule has always existed, why Kelly Brook wasn't allowed to come back after a week, off was she given the choice?

No Laila did not have the option not to dance. She would have been out of the competition. These rules were dicussed on ITT. The doctor told Leila that it was safe for her to dance, so she had to dance.

Yes she did have the option not to dance. Watch Saturdays SCD. Claudia mentions at least 3 times that Laila had the option to dance or sit it out. It's on iplayer now, so you can have a look.

Then they have definitely had a re-think of the rules as that wasn't what was said on ITT tonight. She could have sat it out, but it would have been in a very permanent way.

Kelly wasn't injured, so it was a different situation. We don't know if she was ever given the option of sitting out a week and turned it down, maybe.

I'm not sure when the rule was introduced, but someone commented earlier in another thread that Bill Turnbull may have used it in his series. I do not know if this is accurate or not.

Basically, Laila had to dance or withdraw, as there was no medical reason for her not to dance. Jade was not allowed to dance, so gets a free pass to this week. If she doesn't dance this week, she'll be out, as I understand it, doctor's orders or not.

Lilystar thats how I understood it too- so fingers crossed Jade will be able to dance this week- as long as it won't cause her more damage

On ITT it was implied that she had the option not to dance ie we can all choose to do what we like but she would not have got a bye as the doctor said she could dance on it and therefore would have been out. I agree however that it was not clear.
What was clear to me is that the judges are gathering apace against her ( continued from Blackpool and before) Len in particular was very anti her saving by the public over the two boys!

I really hope so, it would be such as shame if they can't go on, as she was getting really good, but she has to protect her career.

As far as the rules go, I'm so confused, everyone seems to inerpret what is said in a different way, it does't matter how the BBC write them, or explain them, we still can't agree on what they mean but I'm glad someone thinks the same way as me!

I understood at the time Kelly herself decided to withdraw after the sudden death of her father. This was after Len rudely blasted her on the show for her lack of training hours whilst she was visiting her father in hospital.

Isis I watched SCD on Saturday and there was a lot of confusion about this issue. So tonight on ITT Claudia had to clarify that the free pass is given for a week if the doctor says that the injury is serious and it's not safe to dance.

I am sorry am I missing the judges are gathering apace against her bit?? Craig was more than complimentary about her tonight and her comments and marks have never really tallied but have been good so I fail to see how they are 'against her'.

Honestly Len just pointed out that she was the worst on the night and therefore should have been in the dance off- he didn't even say he would have sent her home if you listen to it (I don't think).

We all hear what we want to and if you read/ listen to outside this forum today you will have heard that people think she got through on a sympathy vote so its not surprising that something was said on ITT at the end of the day.

Craig said, she was lucky to have the public behind her, this said with nose wrinkled like he was smelling a stink ( granted he looks like this a lot) hardly supportive !

He also mentioned the contestants who didn't make any fuss about their injuries, who came out and danced as if nothing ever had happened.

I think to be honest even if this week she comes out and does the best dance in history they still won't mark it fairly. The judges have been against Laila ever since the Jive. Their opinions won't change, I don't care though. It's not like they're unpopular.

Yes, I got the definate impression that Craig's remark was a little on the snide side, and don't shoot me down cause I do like him.

If I were Laila and reading these threads or watching ITT I would be in a real state, a lot of people seem to be less than supportive of the difficult situation she was in. Forget the Jade situation, totally different, it was cut and dry for her. Laila seems to be getting a weird blacklash at the mo for doing the only thing she could, dance.

Yes he did but its up to him and he hasn't been overtly nasty to Laila- none of the judges have IMO.

So many people are thinking this- see my comment above- and so again I am not surprised someone said something along these lines on ITT tonight or any other night this week.

Even my mum said on Saturday that she knew Laila would be through as soon as she came down the steps with the strapping on. Anyway I think that Len made a comment and some people will take it one way and others another way and only Len knows what his intended meaning was.

Whatever we think Laila is still in the competition and with a waltz next week which should score her high marks so its all good for the Laila fans!

Aaaah but the judges tend to critique her ballroom on her latin so she can't win really.
