If Jade is fit enough to dance on Saturday do you think should would be allowed to perform the tango, or instead have to choose a new dance?

I'd say do a new dance. I'd love to see their tango but there would be an uproar at the thought that a contestant had two weeks to perfect a routine when the others only had one week.

I think she should be given the glitter ball now...plus a year's supply of cola bottles and love hearts.

I think it's perfectly reasonable that Jade was given a free pass to next week.

But, to be fair to the other contestants, she should have to learn a new dance like everyone else.

I'd love to see her Tango at some point though. Maybe when they get to the two dance stage and have to repeat a dance (and assuming Jade is still in the competition)?

My initial reaction is that she should be allowed do the Tango (to give her more time to recover) but I can see how it might be unfair to the other couples.

So I guess I'm on the fence.

I think it would be a new dance. I would love to see their tango. Having said that there seems to be no news about her
injury. No news..........bad news.

I think a modified version of her Tango so there is no repeat of what caused her injury.
If she is given the all clear by the doctors, Wednesday is the earliest she can get back into the training studio giving her 2 days to learn the revised routine and do general fitness exercises.
That doesn't amount to an unfair 2 weeks for perfecting her original routine as others have said imo.

If she has time to train then she should do a new dance, as someone on the ITT thread mentioned Tuffers training time was cut for injury and he had to do a new dance.

I think the only possible circumstance in which she should be allowed to do the Tango would be if she was told that she needed to rest until Friday or Saturday in which case she wouldn't have had time to learn a new dance. Having said that I think that scenario is highly unlikely.

If she's fit to dance, she will be dancing the rumba. Ian blogged.

There's no worst scenario for the show than having to drop to a two couples final. So if Jade's injury doesn't prove as bad as first thought, but they tell her something like it's best she didn't dance at all before Thursday or Friday, I don't see why they couldn't just let her do the tango. She'd have had little more training than anyone else by then for that dance, and a couple of days only to learn a new one in its place would be pretty harsh. Finding some way to keep her in, even if she can't train all week, would be a lot better than having to reinstate someone or skip an elimination week to keep a three couples final.

Thanks babinaba for this info.

I heard Brian Fortuna on ITT saying that if Jade/Ian had danced their Tango - it would have been the dance of the night ... so it must have been something really very special.

So long as they'd been able to perform it without any mistakes .... on a live show, anything can happen and that's the problem with assumptions - it's all they are

Indeed. I think Jade's Tango is now going to take on a "mythical" status on here. We'll never know what it would have been like.

That's my view too.

The fact that she has been given a free pass to next week has already brought coals of fire on her head. God forbid that anyone, despite her injury, should perceive some sort of advantage.

Might we still get to see it

Quote:
“ My physio Kevin reckoned I could be good to go with five days rest, This is good news in that it suggests less damage than we all feared originally, but not great for learning and executing a whole new dance in six days! Being able to perform our Tango would solve this issue in an instant but we're not sure if that is going to be allowed yet”

You have to weigh up if you want to see Jade back or not........if she isnt allowed to Tango then she probably wont be back.......we will loose one of the better dancers and a serious contender to take the title...and Phil will have been sacrificed for nothing. Ofcourse she is supposed to be dancing the Rumba so she could learn a few basic steps come out with her knee bandaged limp around for a bit and then get the public vote and its all hunky dory again to learn a new dance for the following week, which will probably be a lovely floaty ballroom.

I want to see her tango. So she should do it.

What?

It's not a competition, it's a show.

If the case is that she needs five days rest then she definitely should be allowed to do her Tango - she'll gain no advantage because she'll have no extra training time.

Oh surely that would never happen?

To be scrupulously fair, I think Jade should be allowed to perform her Tango and Laila should get a second chance at the Rumba.

Added to which she may not dance it as well as she might have done last week given that I suspect she might be approaching the dance floor a little gingerly.

She'll have a new ending to learn as well!

Oh, I didn't think of that, it might not be the only modification that is required.
