Just don't know why Jade was not kicked out the show on Saturday. Its a shame I know but surely if you cant compete in all the rounds then you just have to pull out

No other competition I can think of has this crazy rule

Because this is a light entertainment show, not the Olympics.

If none of the other couples have a problem with the decision (which I doubt they did), then I don't see why we should.

It's highy unlikely that Jade would have left this weekend anyway. Her Tango was supposedly sublime.

Exactly. What matters in any competition is that the rules are the same for everyone.

X Factor (Diana Vickers) and Pop Idol (Rik Waller) have/had the same rule. In terms of what you're talking about (which is talent based reality shows, not the Olympics) it's actually perfectly analogous.

So why did Lalia half to dance?

Why did Phil not get a week off after his surgery?

Even though he danced I'm sure deep down a surgeon would not recommend that 2 days after surgery you start training again for a dance competition

you may be looking into this a bit too much. shes one of the frontrunners, she wasnt going this week anyway...and the rule is they get a bye for one week only...its the same for everyone else.

Bhoy, think of it like what they do with pooling health insurance in the US ... you all pay the same fee in your pool, but only some of you are going to get ill and actually have to draw money out of it. At the start of the show, the BBC now thankfully has something of a rule book in place and this rule seems to be in it ... any contestant ruled out by a doctor from dancing can skip one week only and continue in the competition. At the start, all know that person might or might not be them. Indeed, one of the others could get injured next week, and they'd get the same break. It doesn't only become a fair rule if everybody gets injured and gets to skip a week.

As long as the rules are the same for everyone and everyone knows the rules before they start, then there should not be a problem. However if you look at it in relation to competitions in the "real world" it doesn't make that much sense. But this isn't the "real world" is it?

Because, they were told that dancing would not make their injuries any worse. Jade was told she risked further damage if she danced.

You can add Kelly Brook(Father died)...although she ended up withdrawing anyway...It`s also happened on DWTS....and I believe it`s also happened on Dancing on Ice.....At he end of the day SCD is a light entertainment show...it`s not the Olympics....Speaking of which...the real reason Jade was so upset is because she knows this injury could well disrupt her training schedule and that's far more important to her than not being able to Dance.....If it makes the OP feel any better I doubt Jade will be competing next week anyway....Happy now.

I think you will find that Phil and Laila both made there injuries worse when dancing.

Of course not as serous injuries but training 2 days after surgery or dancing with an ankle you just sprained that morning will not be doing anything other than making the situation worse

If they were both footballers for example they would both have had been told to rest these injuries

to be fair phils surgery was not particularly invasive.

Thats totally a different situation.A bereavement is not the same as an injury and I entirely accept her having the week off.

As for the XF/PI stars I don't think hey should have been given the week off either but as this a SCD forum I will debate the SCD contestants on here for now

PS.Yes I am happy now and not because I dislike Jade but I feel if she had come back and gone onto to win the series it would have been unfair

Because in a serious sporting event the emphasis has to be on fairness...or else the event loses all credibility.

For silly TV celebreality fluff, expediency is the order of the day. Or, put another way, if possible they do what's likely to cause the fewest complaints, media 'furore' etc.

Look I'm not Dr but I'm sure that if Phil says is i OK to carry on dancing next week he would have said along the lines well its your choice but I wouldn't recommend it

Did they ever ask Phil if he wanted a week off?

What I dont understand is why didnt they show her dress rehersal on VT and let the judges and puplic decide on that performance .
Seemed like the sensible thing to me at the time anyway

Well, you dont know enough about his injury/type of operation to be able to say this Bhoy. Funnily enough, I am a Doc and its not always that simple with injuries.

Look I don't need a Weatherman to tell me when its raining just Like you don't need a Brain Surgeon to tell you that dancing with injuries is not a good thing.

Yeah and if you read my posts on the Laila-Bashing thread you'll see that I was astonished that Laila danced on such a 'bad' injury. Im not a Brain Surgeon but Im a bloody good Doctor, I know what Im talking about and I know that its far more complex that you would like to think Bhoy.

Not at all Bhoy - and don't presume to know what others are feeling/thinking.

Fact is if Jade, having come through the qualifying round, was in the Olympic final she would have 3 jumps.

Now suppose she took her first jump - put a mark on the board but sustained an injury; she could choose to pass the second round, in the hope that the pain had eased sufficiently to make a final jump. If not she would obviously have to rely on her first round performance - as you can see the Olympics/Commonwealth/Europeans is nothing like SCD.

You've gone down in my estimation Bhoy.
