Humax, what about giving the old firmware back?

Would it not be a good idea if Humax could provide the previouse firmware that people that had a problem could re-load ?

No thanks, the new one works far better for me.

I'm ok but reckon you should be able to downgrade...Is it not on their site?

Unless Humax issue the old firmware with the new update number there's no way on a freesat box to prevent the current OTA simply upgrading it again overnight. Imagine the confusion different firmware reporting the same version number.

If Humax made available on their website all the previous versions of firmware , much like the PC motherboard vendors do . You could turn off the Automatic update and 'downgrade ' using the usb flash route as on the the HDR Download support Page. I haven't tried it myself but It depends on if the HDR upgrade routine just checks for a valid model number or if it will only allow ascending FW numbered upgrades !

You could probably downgrade, but you can't turn off Automatic Update. The only "solution" after a downgrade would be to power the box off between, say 0230-0430, until the OTA period finishes.

Yes, being able to turn off automatic update along with the ability to selectively choose which firmware you wish to install would be a good idea. It least would have given the people who have specific issues with an update the ability to go back to a previous version.

Only when you are bringing it out of Standby, I think.

But if you've left it in Standby overnight, as you should for it to do iits housekeeping, it will automatically update.

The box checks your current firmware version against any available OTA during the overnight housekeeping and updates if it finds a newer version. You can turn off the power on a Foxsat-HD but it's a lot more problematical on a recording pvr like the hdr.

Thats worrying so there could be loads not knowing they have new software and could be pulling there hair out wondering what they done to get the problems some here have
Its quick enough to annoy you with scans MSG's but not telling what its done

To do that would require a firmware update.

Can't some firmware upgrades make changes which make a roll back to an older version impossible?

I think each one is a complete replacement which stands on it's own.
