I'm not really one to get my knickers in a twist about the BBC and am not suggesting for a minute they're making any money out of it...

I appreciate it'd be over the top to censor all brands, but isn't having a big banner in the Minute Mart saying "Juice Up... Up Juice" on the wall going a little far to make us suspend our disbelief? It seems a bit unnecessary to me.

In all fairness, I don't think that they sell that Juice Up! stuff anymore anyway. The worst soap for product placement is Neighbours. If you watched one episode you'd see about 2 Nokia 3310/3330s and at least one shot of a drink made by Coca-Cola.

I remember a few years ago when HMV had their 'Top Dog in ....' slogan, there were some eps with clearly visible & authentic looking posters saying 'Top Dog in Walford' on the external walls near the tube station.
Apparently this wasn't product placement, endorsement, advertising or a contradeal, but rather adding realism to the external shots.

I think the best thing in Eastenders is Barrats Bargin Centre which you can often see behind them in the market place.

The rules are that you can have slogans like that - but they can't be given 'undue prominence'. So having the stuff in the background is ok, but if you were to have a camera focused on it for a length of time, or a lengthy conversation about it, that would be against the rules.

I always laugh at the fact that in EE whenever anyone buys lager from the Minute Mart it is always 'SKOE' lager instead of 'SKOL' ROFLMMFAO!
