Like being caught between a rock and a hard place, isn't it?

I'm sure, should she decide to pull out and she was fit enough to, they'd have her perform it on one of the final shows. I'd love to see it too, but obviously her priority is her knee and how it affects her career. I hope she's OK.

Oh yes, Ive been there too, smelly place!

I know what you mean, I really reheeallly want to see her Tango. But, her career is important and I would be happier, to be honest, if she bowed out of SCD. You never know, she could be a future Olympic Gold Medallist, which is just as shiny as the Glitterball!!!

I didn't mean do nothing, I meant don't push it until it hurts, particularly with a tear.
I'm not a doctor, but I've played sports all my life and suffered a dislocation of the shoulder in a squash tournament. (sweat on the floor caused me to slip and collide with a side wall). That took months for me to recover enough to play again.
Yet recently I was fit enough to play golf again eight weeks after a hip replacement, by following my own advice. You can't make hard and fast rules.

Give it a rest Bhoy - you're looking increasingly foolish.

I sent an email to Jade and received a charming reply back from her.
I love her and Ian anyway, but she has soooooooo gone up in my estimation.
What a lovely lady.

I love Jade and Ian - they are in my top 3 - but as much as I would like her to perform on Saturday- priority must be The Olympics in 2012 and she must do whatever it takes to get her there and if that means bowing out of Strictly then so be it. I hope she is back to full fitness soon and we can see her perform the Tango - if not this week - when she is better. (The rehearsals before she hurt her knee were fantastic.

I got one too - I think at the moment she has a fairly standard reply, but there are always personal touches in the email. In mine I said how much my son adores Ian and she promised to pass that on - it made my sons day when I read out the email to him.

Pretty impressive when you consider she must have been inundated with emails. It would be easy to ignore them or send out a standard response...I adore her even more now!

Would I be right in assuming that if it had happened to Craig (pre Blackpool) you would have been very much in favour of the bye rule if he'd have injured himself? Just because you don't like a dancer, that isn't a reason to apply the competition rules differently.

If playing cricket, the rules of cricket apply. If playing golf, the rules of golf apply. If you are running the 100m, then the rules of that event apply. If you are competing in a Saturday night car-crash reality TV show, then guess what??? The rules of that particular show apply. She got the bye because it's in the rules. If she can't compete in Saturday then she's out. That's fair.

Indeed. It's quite an achievement to manage "increasingly" given your posts to date. As Len might say "You came out and gave it your all, so well done!"

Mine as well

I so want to see that Tango, but if she has to pull out, so be it, and I'll be yelling her on 2012

Jade has had a lot of injuries over her career, and this article gives an insight to her attitude.

http://www.healthandfitnessonline.co.uk/?p=215

Basically, she doesn't look for them as an excuse. If no decisions are being made until Friday or Saturday, it doesn't leave many options open for which dance to do though.

I would much rather see Jade perform on Strictly Come Dancing than take part in the 2012 Olympics. Dancing is more fun than sport. Simple as. End Of. BYE!

Meaning that we might see her tango after all ...?

Well, as long as you get your fix of Saturday night entertainment, then Jade's future career, her - and the country's - medal hopes can go hang, but all will be well because you're happy.

I'd read Midflight's post more as preference to watching dancing that athletics rather than wanting Jade to dance irrespective of the risk to her career.

I'd sooner see Jade dance and I'm a big sports fan. There are plenty of longjumpers, but no-one does a Quickstep quite like Jade.

Hmm..

But Jade's "dancing career" would be short-lived.
Although she's 29, she possibly has another five years of top-flight athletics in her, if she looks after herself and there's plenty of big money to be earned on the Grand-prix circuit.

We don't even know how long SCD will last.
