Just begging to roll off the table or for little girls to pick up and stick in their mouths.

No thanks. Don't need a £200 toy apple for the toy box.

Its a novel idea though for selling music and video in the future, no cd's any longer but selling on usb after all things like netbooks dont have cd drives but they do have usb ports so you could shift your music around with you.

Lol! For a minute there, I thought they were selling a novelty USB stick for £200!

They're also selling The Beatles in Mono, apparently more time was spent creating the mono mixes so the difference could be quite interesting to hear.

I think this would only be for those with more money than sense. How the hell can they justify charging £200 for this novelty......which it is. You could probably get an excellent performing USB 16GB stick for roughly £30. This is just total novelty, which is why they've made in to the cute shape of an apple. I think this link says why you shouldn't bother with that novelty apple thing, although, prices from third party sellers are regularly going up and down.

I agree. USB would be a great thing to use for devices such as portable DVD players, computers/laptops. It would be great if they also brought out music players that were made specifically for these music USB devices. Instead of having to connect your music device to the computer to transfer music to it, simply connect the USB stick to the specially made hand held music player and bombs away.......you have a music player that's playing the album you've bought, just like you would buy a CD. No skipping, nothing. I know they have MP3 players, but it would be great if they could make something along the lines of this.

No, a USB stick. SD cards are made for phones, aren't they?

Not sure I'd bother with this. I've got the stereo box set, and it is brilliant.

It is encoded in FLAC 44.1 Khz 24 bit.

This is FAR higher quality than is available on either of the remastered CD box sets. So there is a reason for getting it over the CDs.

Not really. The 24 bits give you a greater dynamic range than CD, however, since the dynamic range of the original tape is lower than that of CD none of if it will be used.

On the other hand, the tape will contain higher frequences than CD is capable of, but none of this will be captured on the USB, since the sampling rate of the USB is the same as CD, 44.1khz.

It's a very odd decision tbh. The typical high-rez format is 24bit/96kbhz. If they had made the FLACs 16bit/96khz then that would have captured more information from the master tapes than CD, but going for 24/44.1 doesn't add anything.

That, plus the choice of using the Stereo remasters rather than the mono, whereas most purists prefer the mono, make this a pretty poorly thought out product imo.

It also seems to have MP3s on it as well. If 24 bits is higher quality, they should really start doing these remastered CDs in 24 bits as well.

The music is worth ten times that.

Anything that means a Beatles thread is this blackhole of musical badness is a good thing.

CDs are limited to 16-bit (well, HDCD can go higher, but not 24)

Well, I've got the Forever Classics set and these have 20 bit recording stated on the top of the front flap. It also has DDD which apparently means that they're a digitally recorded master........or something like that. Yes, it seems as though they are most likely HDCD discs as these contain 20 bit encoding/recording. I've had the set since 2000.

Why do you say that their music is worth £2,000 for?

It my just mean that the initial recording was in 20bit. They would then be converted to 16bit to be transfered to CD.

Most recordings these days are in 24bit and then converted to 16bit
