ive been having a conversation with a mate about people who only vote for their favourite professionals

if you have a favourite professional would you vote for them if you didn't like their celeb partner?

what happens if another celeb you like gets voted out and your annoyed your favourite professionals partner is still in even though you voted for them?

i dont think its very fair people vote for their favourite professional. it really should be about who your favourite celeb is.

I would never vote for a professional. I haven't actually voted in years though.

Why shouldnt you vote for your favourite pro? I've been doing so all series. Its no different from having a favourite celebrity and voting for them, regardless of their dance ability. Yeah its a bonus if you like their celeb partner and they can actually dance but if not its called being supportive.

I have a fave pro and will do my best to like his celeb-partner, but if I truly find no redeeming qualities in the celeb I will not vote for them.
That has sometimes resulted in me not voting at all, or not until the (semi-)final stage.

What she said. I can point to series 3 as a prime example of this

This year is the first year I've voted and yes it's for a professional more than their celeb partner - realised if I wanted to continue to watch people dance I needed to join in. (Learnt the hard way when Austin left, was gutted)

Mind you I think some of the pros are more like the celebs now than the actual celebs!

Not sure about voting for my favourite professional, but definitely it works the other way for me - Brendan could be dancing with my dearly loved sister and i wouldn't vote for him!
To answer though, I think it depends for me on the overall partnership, I need to like both individually, and their partnership before I would be moved to pick up the phone.

I had a favourite pro/celeb pairing and since then I have voted for the pro. Ive not really had another celeb that I was have got behind since so am quite happy voting for the pro.

OP, it's people's right to vote how they want (if they have to spend well earned cash), however I do think that if I could not relate to the "pairing", I probably wouldn't vote - but that does not mean I would vote for anyone else instead.

I have a favorite pro and always vote for them, but then I usually even that out with a vote for my favorite celeb (not with my favorite pro)
Also, sometimes I will vote for another person aswell if I thought their dance was really good

Some of the pros are more famous than the celebs.
I didn't know Chris Hollins, Rav Wilding, Ricky Whittle or Jade Johnson. Two of the pros were new so I didn't know them, but I certanly know Ola and Ian.

I can't vote, as I live abroad but if I could I would vote for a combination of factors. If a celeb is dancing with my favourite pro I'd definitely throw a few votes their way, unless I loathed the celeb. Similarly if I can't stand a pro I probably won't vote for the partnership even if I like the celeb. The ideal is obviously to vote for the partnership but it doesn't always work that way. In season 3 I liked Zoe and Colin fairly equally, but what made me root for Zoe was Ian, whereas I wasn't a big fan of Erin at the time.

True!

Most of the time, I prefer the pros to the celebs. Apart from Kristina, who I really don't like, I love all the other professionals, and I get more gutted when one of my favourite ones leave than the celebs, mostly.

I would say Vincent must be very well loved.

Of course he is ! That's half the reason he and Natalie manage to stay in week after week.

so you think if someone really doesnt like a celeb they shouldnt vote for them just cos they like the pro?

do you think its fair on a voter who does this that complains the celeb is still in even though they voted for them?

Same.

When they announce the line up each year I care more about my favourite pro getting a good partner than I do about which celebs are actually on it.

I'm sorry, I don't really understand your post. Perhaps you could clarify what you mean?

I don't think anyone should or shouldn't vote for anyone. It's up to each person to vote based on what gives them the most enjoyment and each person is different.

1. if a voter votes for a professional but doesn't really like the celeb should they or should they not vote?

2. if you did vote for the professional is it fair theyre complaining that the celeb partner is still in and one they did like is out?

i dont know how else to explain it

1. As I said, I think everyone has the right to vote for whatever reasons they want.

2. Are you saying that if, for example, someone voted for Laila and Anton because they liked Anton they shouldn't complain that Laila's still in? Well no, because I would seriously question their intelligence in that case. It would mean that they don't understand that Laila and Anton come as a package.

I vote for my favourite pro, luckily i have always liked their celebrity partners, if and when they go out it will depend on who is still in and whether or not i like them, icant take to ricky w, or ali.
The reason i started dancing was because i was impressed with how the professional handled their partner, and they inspired me to go out there and try.

It makes no difference whether you vote for pro or celeb at the end of the day a few people cannot keep them out of the bottom 2, no matter how much you vote, the rest of the public has to be on side to.

I think there is also an element whereby if you have favourite pro's you are more inclined to like their celeb partners anyway, because naturally you look for the good parts of your pro fave, and (almost) invariably the pro's come across as really liking their partner.

Personally I tend to like the pro's because of the dynamics they create in their partnerships, so this almost always naturally translates into votes for their partnership.

This series I have really not warmed to Ricky W but after dipping into several threads on the subject I have realised that a big part of that is down to the fact that I find Natalie particularly 'cold' and had he been with someone I liked then I wouldn't have had a problem with him. Same goes for Ian & Jade. Ian definitely my favourite pro and I love him & Jade together, but had Jade been with 'A.N. other' pro who I disliked I can step back and see that I wouldn't necessarily have been the 'Jade fan' I have turned out to be this series.

I'd vote for Lilia if she was dancing with a monkey
