I was wondering whether I could be cheeky and ask everybody for your advice.

My Girlfriend wants an LCD TV with a DVD player built in. Obviously I would buy these separate if I had the choice, however she would have the TV on a bracket and no where to position the DVD player, so I haven’t got much choice.

I was looking at these 2 TV's and I was wondering if I could have your opinion on which one to buy, or maybe if you new of any others on the market?

I don’t really know the differences between the tech spec's. Is there anything particular in a spec I must look for?

Many thanks for your time,

Graham

I can't open the Toshiba link, but the JVC set looks suspiciously similar to the cheapo unbranded one I bought in the summer - the specs are identical save for the USB slot.

It's ok for a spare room, but not the sort of thing you'd want as your main TV. The picture is very soft and dull, the sound quality is dreadful.

Also be aware that it's a 16:10 display, and automatically stretches broadcasts so that everybody is a little bit taller and thinner. I can't find any way to over-ride this.

Surprisingly it's actually quite good as a PC monitor provided it's a relatively static image (eg word processing, general surfing). I certainly wouldn't use one for gaming.

If that's the route she wants to go down, shop around as you'll almost certainly find the exact same set available with a different sticker for a lot less than JVC will be asking.
