So....not enough votes (therefore revenue)?

Personally it should never have been changed in the first place although, the number of couples at the start, made it too much of a marathon - would have taken all night having 2 shows.

I'm happy with that - it all felt a bit long with it all in the one show.

Surely this has always been the plan this year
It has been on the SCD site since the start .

They should have done it from week 1

There's no revenue. No one makes money from the SCD voting.

I think that would have meant even less viewers/voting.

Only a few diehards would devote all of their Saturday night to the show when there are 14/16 couples.

You're absolutely right. I was about to say the same thing. They are also going to reveal the results of the public vote from this point onwards too. I imagine this means the order of voting rather than actual figures or percentages but this may only be conjecture.

Pleased about this. One big show combined felt very dragged and padded out.

If they kept this format next year, but lowered the number of couples to 12, I'd be happy.

The details on the BBC site say:
From the quarter-final, there will be a main live show where the remaining celebrities and their partners will dance for the judges scores and the audience votes. The voting lines will open once all remaining couples have danced their routines. An announcement will be made to that effect during the live programme. Later that same night, there will be a live results show, where the audience voting results and the combined scores will be announced. The bottom two scoring couples will go into a dance-off as per the rules above.
I don't see anything that says they will reveal the order of voting, more that it will work as it does know, and has done sice the dance off came in.

I like the one show format. The trouble is when there are too many contestants the show drags on. As others have said limit the number of contestants and the one show format will work.
I don't have a problem with the two show format for the 3 remaining shows. This is when things seriously start hotting up and people must be given time to vote for their favourite.

I'm glad I'll be able to switch back to the results after X Factor. Haven't seen anything past the dances themselves for the past couple of weeks. Rod Stewart and Penny aside.

Why do they say 'where the audience voting results and the combined scores will be announced'? If they are going to announce the combined scores we'll be able to work out the order of the public vote anyway. I think there is going to be a difference in the way it works up until the quarter final. At the moment we only find out the bottom two, not the audience voting results or the combined scores.

That's it there (bold).
It'll be marks 1-5 for the viewers vote to add to the leaderboard and a combined mark translated to 1-5.

I'm glad it's going back this way. It hasn't been too bad lately but at the beginning of the series the shows were riciculously long.

No complaints from me. I can relax and watch the pro dancers and guests properly now. Was a bit manic getting the votes in so quick, with one eye on the phone redialling and one eye on the lookout for Brendan..

The later results show will have to be live if they want to give people longer to vote so...

I hated the two show format. Relied on a spoiler here and then saved myself the effort of watching most of the Saturday programme repeated.

I assume they mean the original two show format? As in, the same night as the main show, rather than making a pre-recorded show for Sunday?

The BBC just can't stop messing with it, can they?

With fewer competitors left, they could just cut down the length of the programme.

It was ridiculous to change from 12 couples just to try to go "head to head" with X-factor over the run.

Too many BBC people just trying to justify salaries of a few hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Yes - they do mean the original 2 shows on one night. I think it works best that way. At least then there's a break to go and make a snack

(I hope they don't ever bring back the results show on Sunday. That was a disaster. Most fans already knew the results by then )

To be fair, this isn't a reactive thing - it's been on the website since the beginning of the series that this was going to happen.

Just musing that they might put the results show on with the last 20 minutes of X-Factor.

Have a nice rest of the week, Mr Cowell.
