Er, I take it you didn't see the second part of the show on ITV2 Dancing Girl? She explained in some detail what had happened to her physically, and it isn't so strange to deteriorate from low blood sugar so rapidly, and it isn't strange either that panic attacks can follow. If it can happen to my 25 year old son - who is 6'3" and 14st btw - on an excercise where he cheerfuly admits to crying like a girl for his Mum, it can easily happen to someone with nothing on them like Camilla. She may be partly to blame for not appreciating fully the implications of the diet she could expect to be living on but there's a medical team there who pass the celebs as fit or otherwise and I'd like to know how much consideration they gave to Camilla's physique before putting her out there in the first place...

How does having surgery make someone a bad person? Camilla is clearly publicity-hungry. She has a talent, but she'd prefer to date famous people and take part in reality shows. She's unethical because she's going to take the money after just a few days of being in the jungle. Anyone with a bit of wit would know that a spell in the jungle wouldn't be easy, and I don't think she's that naive.

Thanks for the explanation. |

Where did I say having surgery makes someone a bad person? You're the one who is throwing around accusations about Camilla, I was simply pointing out the different approaches Katie and Camilla have to their career. Katie has used surgery to improve her career, Camilla hasn't. In that respect (and the other ones I pointed out), they are different.
Camilla has had a faux romance and gone on a tacky reality TV show. All of her relationships seem to be with other celebs. She seems to share Katie's love of fame and money. |

You implied that having surgery is beneath Camilla. Having surgery doesn't make someone shallow and it's a cheap way to criticise someone.

[quote] I strongly disagree. Assuming we are talking cosmetic surgery and not surgery necessary to save life or combat disease, subjecting your body to general anesthesia in order to place bags of silicone in your breasts (and then doing the same thing to change the size of the bags) suggests a person has unhealthy views about body image and is obsessed with her own appearance. I'd say pretty shallow. How is that a 'cheap' way to criticise someone? |

I wonder why it is taken for granted Camilla hasn't had cosmetic surgery? Is it just because she is a dancer as opposed to a model??
I'm not saying she has had surgery, but an awful lot of pro dancers do .... dancing is just as 'cosmetic' a career as modelling. |

Yewtree, as far as I know Camilla has only dated three guys -
Brendan - Her pro partner for years and certainly not a celebrity until after Strictly came along. Fabio - An Italian banker who in the all the time they were together I can only recall seeing with Cam on one or two photos. Kevin - Met by chance on the Underdog Show and started dating on Lesley Joseph's suggestion. They marry next year... So out of three relationships she's had, only one was with a recognisable 'celeb' and he certainly isn't rich and/or a big star If I've drawn any conclusions that I'm sure of about Camilla in the last few years is that she's a pretty conservative sort of woman and not so desperate for fame and money that she'd make it an absolute requirement for a prospective partner. She may not be perfect but she's not a 'fame at all costs' harpy either

From things I have read on other threads and this, I think some people over estimate Camilla's celebrity status. To be fair if I didn't watch SCD I would have no idea who she is at all.
Don't blame her for withdrawing/agreeing to be withdrawn as I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that tack-fest KP:yawn: |

Tbh I'm not that interested in anybodies 'celeb status'
An awful lot of celebs are thick as ****, vulgar, self-indulgent and 'famous' for all the wrong reasons. How many 'celebs' achieve their fame through notoriety rather than any real ability or talent that they have? If Camilla wanted fame and money at all costs, all she'd have to do would be to stuff her boobs full of plastic, start mouthing off her personal details to the press at every opportunity, fall out of nightclubs in her knickers in the early hours, dish all the dirt on 6 series of Strictly, (and there must be plenty of that) specifically spilling the beans on her and Brendan's split etc etc bleeding etc On that subject she told me herself that the reason she and Brendan never had their book published was that publishers wanted all the gory details and they refused to comply. That's just one of the things that makes her more of a 'celeb' to me than a lot of the household names I can think of

How many 'celebs' achieve their fame through notoriety rather than any real ability or talent that they have? What I was rather briefly trying to say (and now feel maybe I should expand to explain better) is that some posters seem to think she did not 'need' to do IACGMOOH.....well I beg to differ these shows are purely 'profile raisers' and nothing more IMO. Camilla, if she wants to have a media career that is not related to SCD then she does unfortunately need to endure a few 'profile raising' encounters such as this show as she is I would imagine not high profile enough to be inundated with decent media work offers. I hear from this thread that she is moving to slot on GMTV, fair play, but I bet that she will still be a complete 'who's that?' to lots of people and may have to endure another outing on another celeb based reality show to maintain a profile that gets her reglar non scd based work. I feel sorry for her to be honest, I would hate having to worry about these sort of thing. The media seems horrid to work in within this context. |

I think I agree diddygirl
I'd just add that although an awful lot of people won't know who she is, there's a good chance more will know her than a lot of the celebs we've had on Strictly

I don't blame Camilla for taking the money, I'd want shedloads of cash just for one day in that jungle!! And if she was pulled out and didn't ask to leave, it's not her fault. I'm amazed at all the derogatory things people are saying about her on here. She couldn't know what it would really be like or what effect it would have on her health until she got there. At least she gave it a go.
