Help connecting Xbox to TV
I've just bought an xbox 360 that only displays in Black and white on a CRT TV, this a confirmed fault but its out of warranty.
Anyway here is my question. If i connect the component lead to this http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/..._ya_oh_product Switch the xbox cable to HD and put the resolution right down in the menu Then into the scart socket will it display ok on an SD Telly? |

Component and SCART (RGB) are a different "colour space" so just a physical adapter won't work if the TV does not support Component.
You can buy component to Scart adapters but they are expensive. |

Maybe the Xbox 360 has the necessary settings in it's menu though?
I have just seen a xbox360 component cable that comes with a scart adapter which is clearly just a physical adapter so perhaps it will work. Best ask an Xbox expert! |

I hope so
Alternatively i Have an official xbox VGA cable. Is there anyway to use that cable and connect it to a scart socket? |

It seems you can definately get a Xbox360 cable to Scart for around £6 to £10
Just search on Play. Whether the cable you have already will work with a Scart adapter dongle I don't really know. |

I can connect to the TV just now by scart, the problem is that when the xbox is set to SD the picture is black and white. Switch it to HD and its colour. Its a GPU problem.
What i need is a solution that allows me to take either the signal from the Red green and blue component leads into scart, or my official xbox VGA cable into scart as the tv it needs to be connected to only has scart sockets (or RCA sockets on the front) |

make sure the xbox is set to output PAL not NTSC or some other standard. This can result in B&W pictures.
