..... and that's my problem with the whole Jade scenario
As a serious medal contender for the Olympics, I would have assumed that no matter how much she wanted to continue on SCD, she would put her career first, withdraw and concentrate on getting back to full fitness. Much as I hate to say it, this "will she/won't she" nonsense is making me rather cynical .....

However Ally, she's taking it day by day and seeing how her injury heals. I mean, whats to say that with expert physio and guidance she is able to dance on it without long term damage which is a possibility, I dont blame her for hoping for the best but the thing is, she immediately thought of her career as soon as she injured herself.
You musnt forget, she hasnt made an announcement either way, because she is still being assessed on the extent of her injury and how it will affect her short and long term. These things dont have a formal solution in just a few days, they need time and further assessment before a final decision is made. That's the nature of medicine, its not always simple and I do think people tend to forget that occasionally. Give it a chance and see what happens. I for one dont think she will be coming back but if she does, its after multiple consultations with medical and physio experts and I think Joe Public should be happy to accept that. My point is that ultimately she has no more than 6 days to recover, train and go back out and perform a new dance .... no matter how good a recovery she makes, she still stands to jeopardise her entire career and for what ? .... a cheap, sparkly glitter ball rather than Olympic gold ! |

OK first I am only starting a new thread on this because I seem to be getting bogged down in this issue over about 4 threads now
So here's my point I for one don't think Jade feigned injury and I also don't think she has broke any rules. All I am trying to point out is that from someone whose place at the January games was in serous doubt one minute to be able to dance a week later to me seem like a minor miracle.Surly if the injury was that bad she would not risk her professional career Poor Laila had to go out and basically put herself at the bottom of the leaderboard as it was always going to be impossible that she was even going to dance anything other than the worst dance of the night whilst injured.Even if she had finished 2nd Bottom with the combined scores she was always going to be out as she was never going to win a dance off. After seeing her on IT2 today she is still injured and has had no more than 1 Hour of training this week so far Now at the same time Jade is struck down with an injury that is so bad she cant dance on and get a rest form her injury, a bye to the next round whilst Laila gets nothing. It seems to me that Laila is being penalised here for not making as big a meal of her injury as Jade did. Surely this is unfair.I had a degree of sympathy last week when I like the rest of you thought she had done some serous damage but now I am wondering how serous this injury was that she seems to be making this miraculous type comeback next week Agree or Disagree anyone? PS Its only my opinion so please just give your's without resorting to personal insults as some seem to have done before on other threads Secondly, Jade was hopping off the set on Sat afternoon, so evidently couldn't put any weight on it. Laila was walking, and then did manage to do a bit of the Rhumba. Thirdly, Jade has grown up in a world where you don't show weakness, and is used to injury, Laila hasn't. Jade being that upset, and concerned about her training showed how bad it was and how frightened she was. Laila was in pain disappointed and embarrassed, and I'm afraid is probably more sheltered than Jade, so I would expect her to cry more easily and have a lower pain threshold. In fact, once she got the public sympathy vote for barely dancing at all, Laila had much more of an advantage, as she could get a bye this Saturday, but if Jade doesn't dance, she's out completely. Laila could get the sympathy vote again. Jade is less likely to get it, even though there may be more genuine sympathy for her, because people don't want her to jeopardise her athletics career for a dancing competition. |

No, no unfair advantage. Laila did not fall down the stairs properly for it to be serious enough. Anyway, it does not look good for Jade, it's Thursday already and no decision yet. I guess she's not training and even if she started right now, she wouldn't have time enough to learn a new dance. Unless they let her perform the tango.

Jades career was not in serious doubt. It was made to seem to be in serious doubt by the train that is reality TV. Clearly Jade was worried but that is a natural reaction, not serious doubt. No one can write of a career that quickly - athletes come back from all sort of major injuries. Time tells. She may or may not have a problem in the future but no one will know for some time. All the rest is reality TV gush.
Jade may have an advantage over Laila but that come directly from the medical result. Jade was told not to dance. Laila was told she could - just as many other dancers have in past weeks. This ain't rocket science and so many people are making mountains out of molehills. |

Laila has proved that it is possible to avoid the dance off by virtue of the the public vote.
Jade could return this week, do a basic rumba within the limits of her injury (if that is at all possible) and still get through to the following week if she gets enough public support. |

Anyway I dont see why you have no sympathy for Laila as she did the exact same as Phil. Its Jade that got the week off this week I agree totally with allyfree that as an olympic athlete she should have decided to concentrate on her career and give this SCD a miss if this injury is as bad as we were all given to beleive |

Jad was told NOT to dance by the doctor (as an instruction), Jade had to accept that instruction.
Laila was told that she COULD dance by the doctor (as advice). Laila did not have to accept that advice. |

First of all............Bhoy starts thread with an agenda.........his agenda is to get Chris to win SCD because he has a bet on him to win......he thinks that Jade is a big problem in this scenario because she is popular on the forum and wants to whip up indignation that might result in people not voting for her (if she comes back) you might notice that he doesnt start threads slagging off Ricky W because there are enough of those already.

It's having the opposite effect though. I have noticed people posting in support of Jade in Bhoy's threads who previously didn't care either way about her. If she can dance and she wins the show she may have Bhoy to thank

Thanks for the lecture but I understand the physiology perfectly well, having a clinical background myself .....
My point is that ultimately she has no more than 6 days to recover, train and go back out and perform a new dance .... no matter how good a recovery she makes, she still stands to jeopardise her entire career and for what ? .... a cheap, sparkly glitter ball rather than Olympic gold ! And lecturing about physiology has got nowt to do with Jade's injury now, its about the progression of her recovery. Unless you want to give the FMs on here a snapshot into the various processes of healing in inury? Your point is that she still stands to jeapordise her career if she dances on saturday. Well my point is that Im more than happy for her to dance if the medical and physio experts tell her she can. If there was one iota of risk to her career, she wont dance. But expecting her to make a snap decision about whether to dance or not in a few days last weekend when she didnt know the full extent of the injury until the day afterward isnt fair. She will be working intensively with the docs and physios to establish the prognosis of her injury and like I said previously, that will take time. Medicine isnt always about snap judgements and immediate concrete statements about progression and prognosis, with your clinical background you should know this. If she doesnt dance on saturday, well best of luck for her and her recovery. If she does dance on saturday, I will be happy enough to accept the expert's opinion that it is ok for her to do so and will hopefully enjoy a beautiful tango.
