Thinking about upgrading to LCD soon...
...I still haven't got round to it yet, mainly due to financial issues, but I feel I'm now ready to take the plunge and get one. Thing is, I've read rather worryingly on the Internet that flatscreen TV's, compared to the ever-reliable CRT TV's, can break down, sometimes not long after installation. Are they generally reliable? Do they have the capability to last as long as CRT's? If one breaks down, is it easily repairable, and at what cost? I know I sound like I'm from another time here, but I don't know many people who have one as of yet, so I was just wondering. Thanks.

Cheap ones are cheaply made (like everything else) and likely to have a pretty short life span, just as cheap CRT sets did.
Make sure you buy a decent quality one and you should be fine, the two top brands are Sony and Panasonic. Anything else, then ask here - many other supposed decent manufacturers buy in cheap rubbish and badge it. |
