Why are they trying to erase Rachel from Strictly History?

"Lisa Snowdon was the best female not to have won"

No, Rachel was.

"Cherie's Rumba was the most iconic"

No, Rachel's obvious was.

She was absent from that 10's VT even though she scored the most 10's ever, and in other VT's when they show past people's dances like Lisa's/Tom's/Austin's Rachel's absent again.

The words dull as dishwater come to mind.

She might not have been loud and bubbly off the dancefloor but, the girl could dance. It took awhile for Vincent to get her to feel the dance but, when she did; she lit up the dancefloor like few celebs have done before or since.

Why do you feel the need to try and bash her?

Some people.

I think Len chose Cherie's dance because he said he prefers the more "tender" style of rumba.

But when I think of "iconic" rumba, it has to be Rachel's for me.

Rachel was a fabulous dancer and I must admit I felt a bit a few weeks ago when len made that comment about Lisa.

I don't think she is being erased from Strictly history - but then I never quite *got* Rachel, so I don't know whether I'm seeing it from a different perspective to you, Tyler.

In terms of the rhumba on ITT this evening - I think they were just looking for a good rhumba that Claudia could still do a bit of. I don't think they were claiming that Cherie's was better than Rachel's.

Cherie was hardly the life of the party either was she? Neither was Lisa who spent a number of weeks looking like an abused wife next to Brendan as the poor scores came in

Dont worry TT There are people who agree with you.......She was (for me) the best celeb dancer technically that has ever graced the SCD dance floor. Len and Claudia couldnt re-create her rumba it would be too difficult for them. Cheries was at a nice sedate pace (I did like her too)

Can't people have different opinions? I agreed with Len's statement and I anticipate some people won't have liked Lisa's dances as much, but the personal comments are just rude especially as you have never met her.

Maybe I just take everything Rachel related to heart.

I'm her number 1 fan, haha.

I agree with you. Every time I sense a slot where Rachel could fit in, i sit up and hope... and it doesn't happen.

I 100% agree with everything you made in that post.

Rachel's Rhumba was in a league of its own.

I wish they'd used it instead, but I appreciate Cherie did a stylish performance too and I sense ITT are intent on promoting James at every opportunity lately (to increase his popularity maybe?).

Or I could be reading too much into things....

Anyone who's missed it, here it is now, with the judges remarks and the scores.

I was looking at the Strictly Tour website a few weeks ago and noticed that Rachel won the audience vote at virtually every show.....so she was obviously popular with punters who`d paid hard cash to see the show......I noticed that she was not featured once in Len`s Ten Commandments feature the other day.....which did seem rather odd for someone, who judged solely on her performances and ability should have won last year.

Oh come on! Len used Julian Clary's Samba a couple of weeks ago! He stated then that he wasn't necessarily picking the highest scoring dances or the best just something memorable or iconic. And most importantly something Claudia might be able to do!

Len probably used Cherie's Rhumba because Claudia would have had a better chance of managing to do Cherie's than Rachel's. Plus, Len said at the start of the segment that he doesn't like the raunchy Rhumba's and Rachel's was definitely one of the raunchier ones, while Cherie's was more understated.

She didnt win at the show I went to, Gethin did. He'd won twice the previous day as well.

Rachel was in the dance off twice from memory. I dont think she was that popular at all, though I agree she was much better than Lisa.

I have no memory of Rachels rumba (or any of her dances tbh) but i remember Cheries rumba vividly.

I don't think there was anything personal underlying Len choosing Cherie's rumba. He has always been absolutely consistent regarding what he likes in a rumba, and Cherie's rumba hit all of those points. If it had been one of the other judges I think they would have chosen Rachel's.

It's a matter of personal taste. I preferred Cherie and James's rumba to Rachel and Vincent's (even though it did have more basic steps in it), because like Len I prefer a more romantic rumba. On the other hand, I preferred Rachel and Vincent's foxtrot to Cherie and James's.

Rachel won 26 shows and was runner up in the remaining 14. She had a top two placing in 40 shows.

And please don't turn this into a Rachel bashing thread.

Excuse me? Im not turning this into a Rachel bashing thread. This is a public forum, if you dont like people airing their opinions then dont start topics complaining about Rachel being airbrushed from history when she hasn't been.

All im saying is that if she was really that popular with the public, she'd have won firstly when she was obviousley the best dancer and secondly she wouldnt have been in the dance off so frequently.

Rachel Stevens was the best dancer never to have won Strictly. She should have won the last series - she was a fantastic dancer. I would rather have Rachel and Ali any day to that loud, obnoxious "Pollyanna on Crack" Cassidy woman or Ricky "look at me" Groves.

Some people are modest, hardworking and talented. Not only do I like them, I also respect and admire them.

The bashing comment wasn't directed at you. Sorry if you misunderstood.
