Anyway, her picture is on the cover of the DVD "Live at the O2".

They couldn't do Rachel's Rhumba on ITT as Claude and Len are too bashful so they did something sedate .

The general proposition of the OP though seems correct. They seem to want to avoid the embarassment that their third or fourth best dancer won the last series with no journey, no set of funny VTs and one really memorable dance after nearly all his votes were in. Making Rachel almost invisible seems to be the response. They havn't had that problem before as there were clear reasons for Darren and Mark winning and both had dances that were close to their competition.

All these comments are a matter of taste and opinion - they also depend on the criteria your opinion is based on.

Personally, Rachel's Rhumba was over played. It was the only dance she performed on the tour (40 performances) and IIRC she performed it 3 times last year on the show (inc the Xmas Special) too.

Not only was Cherie's performed as early as week 4 last year gaining 35 points (unbeaten until Rachel in week 9) but as others have said, it ticked all of Len's personal boxes without the 'raunch'.

I really laughed tonight when Claudia suggested an award for their attempt - "Yeah, Health and Safety", said Len

Yes but the only way you will know who dominated the tour is if you listen to a couple of lines of the backstage interviews. You won't otherwise get that impression and if you miss the comments you will think something different.

Spoiler
And yeah, another thing. Even though Rachel won over half the Tour shows she wasn't shown winning on the DVD.

I will never understand SCD.

I somehow doubt Len & Claudia re-enacting Rachel & Vicent's Rumba would've made for the most comfortable of viewing. Nor do I think they'd have been comfortable doing it.

The whole point of the masterclass is a bit of fun. If they were going to use the best of each dance for their examples before the masterclass, Austin's Paso would've been used for the Paso one the other day. Yet they chose to use John Sergeant's, which just proves it's not the be taken seriously.

It's meant to be entertaining. Watching Claudia & Len Rumba-ing together, Cherie-style, is enough to make you want to watch from behind a cushion. Copying Rachel's would've been "Switch channels. Switch Channels now." IMO.

Plus, there's still a Waltz masterclass to go, isn't there? Maybe they'll choose Rachels for that.

Thoughtful and, in my opinion, totally accurate comments here.

Thank you.

The whole thing saddens me though. Rachel and Vincent were incredible, really a very special Strictly couple, and, I feel, sidelined.

Perhaps they'll be a bit more 'included' in a year or two, when the obviousness of it all becomes a bit more muddied by time.

I was going to make that point. Not sure who won it on all the days they filmed the DVD. Its all a bit misleading - more so as they describe the trophy ambigously as the tour trophy when they mean for that night.

They seem prepared to deal with the people who might have done well in the finals they didn't get to, like Austin, Gethin and Kelly, and get them back in prominent roles - but the runners up who scored better than their winners seem too embarassing.

I'd agree with that.

I haven't watched that for a long time, thank you for the link Wasn't it STUNNING!

I too am mystifed about why they're not showing any of her beautiful dances on ITT

And didn't Vincent look so happy with her......he had his sparkle then, he's lost it now he's with Natalie IMHO

I thought Rachel was a brilliant dancer, but I loved Cherie's rumba, so I would have picked that too.

I thought Rachel was a very good dancer (and much better than Lisa), but I honestly can't remember now even one dance she did with Vincent.

You should revisit them Buddy. She really was a lovely dancer. I had a look at some dances last week and I thought they were great.

Have to say I'm with you there.

I can just about remember her tango (with the *ting* when they touched feet, wasn't it?). Oh! And the Viennese waltz because I wanted to march onto the floor and pull the top layer of fabric on her dress down...

I thought her Argentine Tango was the best dance of last series, and the best Argentine Tango ever danced on Strictly. Her American Smooth and Viennese Waltz were no small beer either.

Agree Monkseal, that AT was astonishing. Rachel was a seriously superior Strictly dancer.

I can remember loving a lot of her dances at the time, but none of them have stuck in my memory the way your favourite dances do. Given that REM's Everybody Hurts is my all time favourite song, I'm surprised their VW doesn't come to mind immediately. That's said, in retrospect I do think she is the best female celebs not to have won Strictly - she danced like a pro sometimes.

I remember her Tango, AT and Rumba but when I looked at some of the others I was reminded of how great she was. The fact that I remember 3 is very good for me because I have the worst memory. I only remember about 4 other dances in Strictly history!

I love the way that people on the forum can remember details about so many of the old dances.

Just watched her AT back. It is certainly very impressive - and I hate ATs with a passion. I have to say that it was like I was watching it for the first time, though. When you mentioned her AT, I really couldn't even visualise it, or remember the song she danced to. A pity - 'cause like I say, it was very impressive.

To be fair I think pretty much all of the dances from that semi got lost in the unholy sheisse-storm of controversy that resulted from the leaderboard situation. Probably fortunately so in some cases (Lisa's Argentine Tango, Tom's Waterloo Jive)

I think you are spot on.

So far I have watched again her VW, Waltz, Rumba, AS, Tango, AT and she is just outstanding. For me I'd say all the cr*p stuff that was going on in Series 6 was spoiling the whole show for me - that's the only reason I can think off now for not supporting Rachel & Vincent (I had no favourite for the first time).

I do still think Tom & Camilla's show dance is the best ever, but Rachel & Vincent should have won Series 6.

Well, quite!

I don't know though. I don't think I got Rachel at the time, so I don't think anything she did was ever going to stand out for me.
