For the past week the EPG on this has really been playing up. It can't seem to update the programme listings properly so most channels seem to say 'No Event Information' and therefore all my timer settings are irrelevant as they can't pick anything up.

It seemed to work properly and update the listings when leaving it on for a few minutes, but after leaving it overnight, I checked this morning to find that all the programme listings on the EPG had again gone, with just 'No Event Information' showing for all channels on screen. I was reluctant to have to leave the power on all the time anyway but even that is failing.

The unit was due to record a programme from 8.30-9pm tonight but after getting home at 8.45ish, I checked on the recorder (on standby) to find it wasn't doing anything. Turning the power on, suddenly seemed to get the EPG in gear and it started recording instantly.

Surely if this was a signal problem, then why would turning on the unit start the recording suddenly?

Any suggestions as to how this can be sorted as I have a hunch Sony will simply say bad signal and not do anymore.

I have been in touch with Sony regarding this problem with the Sony RDR-HXD560 they tell me that you should try this.Go in to your setup menu, then setup, then others, then factory setup and then all. once you've done that your unit will reset its self so make sure you have nothing that you want to keep as your hard drive will be formatted.good luck.

I have the same problem with my 560. For a couple of months I've had recording failures but not known why. Then the other day I was working in the TV room (with everything off) when I heard the 560's fan suddenly start whirring. I turned on the TV and the 560 and discovered it had no EPG but was gradually re-filling the info. The timer had also wiped it's memory.
So have Sony sent it a software update?
The fix above is not my first action because the number of recordings I have saved. It's not going to be fun copying 60 hours worth.
For the moment I'm only using manual timings and not the EPG

I too have seen exactly this on my 870.

I have had this problem too for the past two months, I have tried a factory reset and also manged a reset from the service install page but still same

One thing that I have noticed when you are on the epg page if you press the blue key (series info) you are presented with broadcasters recommendations (they have a star to mark them) which my recorder automaticaly records (If epg has been populated!). The instructions say that the recommendations will be not set to record automaticaly. I have only noticed this since I have had epg problems so I reckon it cant handle the extra info.
