“5. Can dancing ever be 'rough' do dancers ever get injured?

Well, personally I have sprained my left achilles tendon, ruptured the right, developed Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) in both my feet. I've pulled muscles in my back, fingers and calfs. I've had my partner split my lip with her elbow in Jive and I've been assaulted by stiletto heels. Yes, dancing can get hairy! Most of the injuries dancers get result from either pulled muscles and from injuries resulting from dancing in high heels, twisted ankles and impaled toes.”

Ola was quite badly injured on the first tour too. Didn't her and James have pull out for a while because she pulled something. Tish did her back in on tour too and I think Chris Parker had to hobble around with his leg strapped up for a bit (in his own words not that it made a difference to his dancing).

Peas are actually very good for injured boots.

I think Laila has since put her feet up and eaten the peas along with bacon, eggs, sausage, hash brown, mushrooms, chips, black pudding, tomatoes, baked beans.......

Didn't Darren bruise/break one of Lilia's ribs last year doing a dance?

I would think it's quite easy to injure yourself while dancing - it's always going to be far more strenuous than it looks.

One judge endured a terrible 90 seconds,
and obtained £7,000 injury compensation.

I would have thought that ice couldn't really do much to help the sheep by that stage though

Injuries to competitive dancers are not uncommon. just recently a dancer fell forward on her face and smashed all her front teeth; broken ankles, wrists and elbows are caused by falls; less often broken legs, and on one occasion someone broke their neck.

I've been taken to hospital with severe concussion when I was hit on the side of the head by another competitor (not an uncommon injury) and have competed with strapped up crack ribs. Broken toes happen so frequently that most dancers stop taking too much notice of them!

Freeze sprays and strong pain killers are an essential part of a dancers' kit!!!!!!

My memorable one was him dressed in a snorkel jacket complete with crash helmet, elbow and knee pads to do a slide between Camilla's legs - makes sense now

I always assumed that was her en route to the hospital but according to ITT that was her on her way back

This really made me grin! When I was knocked out, I came to in the hospital and the doctor asked me what had happened. When I explained, he said to me quite straight faced "Why don't you take up and safer sport? Something like kickboxing or karate?!!!!"
