It's so much to do with personal taste.

But Billy Ocean's Get Out of My Dreams is pretty dire.

Kick me if you like but I have never understood what all the fuss is about for Imagine by John Lennon or Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

But the worse songs ever have to be 'Hey Baby' by D.J Otzi and 'Amarillo' by Peter Kay.

Ditto on Imagine. I like Bohemian Rhapsody, but there are far better Queen songs, I think.

Are we going by songs which were successful and people do tend to like or songs which were just the pits and everyone knows it like "Muskrat love", "Macarthur park" and "disco duck"?

Any version of Against All Odds.
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. Again increases razor blade sales along with The Winner Takes It Al and You're The One I Love.

I always thought that 'Open your Box' by Yoko Ono was astonishingly, mindwrackingly b awful.

I heard it as a child and have never recovered.

It's probably sunk without trace now, which is a very good thing, believe me.

'Disco Duck' is a kitsch classic, and everybody knows it.

This. He also murdered a classic tune on his song "Hotel" or whatever it's called.

Who is Pitbull?

Mind, his name alone doesn't inspire confidence I must say.

ANYTHING by Cascada.

And 50 Cent and Ne-yo's new one, "Baby By Me". Oh christ, the day that song was released to the public was the day good music died.

And 3 Words by Cheryl Cole and William is pretty dire too

Michael Buble I Just Haven't Met You Yet

Am I right in thinking that some of the songs posted here aren't bad in themselves but a lot of people are just sick of hearing them because of advertisements/hype/covers/X-Factor etc.?

I've got a few like that, songs I just can't listen to because I've heard them enough times to last a lifetime!

Awful songs I'd nominate though:

Studio B - I See Girls - irritating
Gabriella Cilmi - Warm This Winter - this song REALLY grates on me
Beyonce - Crazy in Love - probably just played to death when it was released
Mariah Carey's cover of All I Want For Christmas is You - dreadful, she feels the need to sing her entire range on every line
Calvin Harris - The Girls - just terrible
Oh La La - Goldfrapp
Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls - bad
Nickelback - Rockstar - usual Nickelback rubbish
Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head - overplayed to death, and then some more, plus it's irritating anyway
Dee-lite - Groove is in the Heart - same as above, overrated

Phew, that's all I can think of at the moment...
