The Charleston is one of the most irritating dances ever invented
It's an unbearable, nauseating, irritating, nightmare of a dance.
I expect next week to feature some of the most vomit-inducing "performances" ever seen. Why did they have to bring it to SCD? ![]() (And the other new dance is little different from a jive.) |

I'm not sure what is happening with all my favourite shows this week. The TV gods have it in for me I think.
Both the charleston and 'rock and roll' are just horribly ugly dances. Awful. I don't want to see pros do them let alone celebs. Why TV gods? Why??????????????? |

Are you kidding? I bloody LOVE a Charleston. In fact any of those early rock n roll dances do it for me - Charleston, Jitterbug, Lindy... awesome. I did a collegiate shag workshop once, it was the MOST FUN EVER (with clothes on).

Personally I really like watching that kind of dance. Mainly because of the music, but also I love how bouncy and happy they are.

I love the Charleston, I always wish I knew how to dance it. There again I love that whole 20s 30s era.

I like the Charleston, when it's danced well. There could be a couple of messy imitations next week

DWTS - Melissa and Kelly
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UVcaEZU4fg Got the marks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XueQQ...eature=related Didn't do her prospects any harm........ Could look a bit silly though if SCD under do the make up and outfits or get the music wrong......... Presume this is what they will want, where the idea came from and what Bruno and Len will be expecting. It also addresses completely what Ricky W and Ali neeed to show. |

If the new dances are anything like as much fun as Darren and Lilia's routine tonight, then I'm looking forward to them - although they might be a bit fast and furious for some of the celebs to handle.

I'm looking forward to these dances, at least they won't be able to screw up the music.
Will they? The music has been awful this year, I do hope we get some authentic tunes next week. I really don't want to have a charleston to some weird version of The Darkness, or a rock n roll dance to some bizarre concoction of Status Quo. |

![]() "The Collegiate Shag (or "Shag") is a partner dance done primarily to upper tempo jazz music (usually 200+ beats per minute). It belongs to the swing family of American vernacular dances that arose in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s." Not quite what sprang to my mind first tbh...

I hate the Charlston with a passion too. I'm not a great fan of silliness through the medium of making stupid faces and the Charlston seems to involve lots of silly faces. Nothing against it technically, it's just the style that grates on me.
Rock n' roll should be great though! Wonder if they're letting them do lifts?! |
