The word diva is overused today, but Dame Shirley is truly a diva.
Wonderful performance, the mark of a truly great singer, she can sing the old standards yet still sing songs by modern songwriters, like the late great Dusty Springfield.
Lets see bloody Alexandra Burke or Leona Lewis doing that in 50 years time.
Shirley Bassey does still have the wow factor and is indeed the best guest so far this series.
However I believe that she should have performed one of her classic hits eg. Big Spender, Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever or even Moonraker. (Yes I'm a big Bond fan too).
When on a huge entertainment show such as SCD you need to give the public what they want. I think most of the public would have prefered to hear one of her classic tunes.
When I went to see Bowie in concert in 2003 I just wanted to hear the classics with the odd new one thrown in, and that's what he delivered.
Tonights song by Bassey was performed with gusto but was forgettable all the same.
A few years back I would have said that Shirley Bassey had become almost a parody of herself in her voice and movement, but she does rather seem to have got it back.

Totally agree ... Dame Shirley was absolutely sensational at the Electric Proms concert ... and was quite easily the best guest star of the SCD series ... BBC should ask her back for the Final ... I would love her to perform ... Kiss Me, Honey, Honey, Kiss Me ... Big Spender, Diamonds Are Forever and of course Goldfinger ... her voice is still magnificent.

I agree..l thought she was fab as always, but I do prefer watching her belt out her old classics especially on a show like Strictly.
I still very much enjoyed her performance tonight too though.
Agree. I hope I'm like that at 72! OK, I'd better hurry up with the singing lessons. But you know what I mean... But compare her to Andy Williams, Rod Stewart, or even the BeeGees.
Also nice to see a ballroom accompanying dance. Lovely waltz from poor lovely Ian (and Natalie). Some consolation for him as I believe he's a big fan.
