Cheryl was dreadful, of course the BBC arnt going to slag her off because shes the nations sweetheart apparently, love how the didnt mention Fight for this Love though, and the guy from Snow Patrol probably just wanted to cop a feel, without any bias Cheryl wasnt good.

Then again Danyl was crap also.

Yes, I'm tone deaf... that's how I managed to pass lots and lots of music exams, academic, theoretical and practical.

Hmmm, given the evidence, lets maybe suggest that actually Danyl was in tune and it's you who are tone deaf?

If you're referring to my post, that was written by The Telegraph, not the BBC

They did mention FFTL but they didn't say anything about the vocals, here is the full extract from the telegraph review:

Quote:
“The X Factor sweetheart Cheryl Cole performed Fight For This Love backed by what appeared to be a crack unit of military dancers (though I’m not sure how practical it would be to go to war with slits up your trousers). But we expect to see Cole doing dance routines in skimpy outfits. It was much more intriguing seeing her duet with anthemic rockers Snow Patrol on the cracked, tender love song Set Fire To The Third Bar. Glamorous in a long white dress, Cole may have looked like she had mistakenly wandered into a scruffy indie club, but she nailed the harmony vocal with a fragile empathy that should silence those who dare to suggest she can’t sing.”

No, I'm quite a good singer and have almost perfect pitch. I'm not blowing my own trumpet or anything and I don't dislike the guy at all.... I just recognise when somebody is out of tune and Danyl was out of tune at times during the performance.

Question.... do you think the first part of his version of "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" was in tune too?

He might not have been in the first few seconds, but he was brilliant shortly after.
I think you need to watch it again, love because you're making a fool of yourself agreeing with what Cheryl (Can't sing for sh!t) Cole says.

Agree..she's the only judge that is objective.

Well he might as well of have sang an Octave below the actual tuning agreed it was diabolical.

I thought Danyl was off key at times tonight, did not enjoy that performance at all. Olly was even worse. Personally (controversially!) I thought Lloyd sounded nicer than either of them this evening

I hate to agree with Cheryl but he was flat in parts especially at the beginning but so were most of them tonight.

Nah....

He wasn't brilliant afterwards. It was a horrible cover regardless of the vocals. The vocals from him just made it worse. His big money notes have no vibrato in them and thus make them nothing more than sort of in tune shouts. He can sing, sure- but he isn't very good.

Whether she can sing or not, her opinion is still valid. However a comment like that will of course seem hypocritical when she can only just carry a tune herself.

How many of us can sing? What's that got to do with anything?

The fact is he was flat at the start and continued to miss notes throughout as has been his way in all but one performance.

You loved it. Good for you. You thought it was amazing. Go to your GP and ask for a referal to an hearing specialist. It wasn't even acceptable.

I couldn't agree more. It's an awful version of the song and sung by someone as inconsistent as Danyl and with such an ugly and unpleasant tone as Danyl it's only worse.

It makes me laugh that so many of Danyl's fans criticise the vibrato of other contestants, particularly Joe, when Danyl could do with some in his voice.

I can play the piano and violin to a high standard but I can't sing.

I can however hear when someone is slightly out of tune on a note or two, never mind as desperately and consistently out of tune as Danyl.

We can only take your word for what you claim but let's just give you the benefit of the doubt, in which case let's assume that you are not judging with your ears.

Perhaps... but can those who say Cheryl can't sing carry a tune even to Cheryl's standards?

I doubt it very much - which is what makes such comments stupid, people are doing EXACTLY what they're accusing her of! (i.e. cricising others' singing when they can't do better!)

They were all flat - other than Joe - this week, and as was reported earlier, it seems likely that a problem with the sound level on the backing tracks was the reason.

However, I think Cheryl should be severely reprimanded for her foul attitude towards Danyl and for her part in helping to fuel the media's assassination of Danyl's character.

This whole show has been fixed from the start. The fact that Cheryl got to showcase her crappy, little song - and even more crappy, the fact that Simon decided to sell himself down the line by saying it was good is proof of that.

If expressing an opinion deserves sacking, by that extension I demand your immediate banning from this forum.

Dannii can hardly sing either. They aren't there to sing they are there to mentor and judge, although I do think Cheryl is out of her depth.

What does it matter? Most of the people who say it aren't a judge on a singing competition, and aren't a member of a pop band or embarking on a solo singing career!

If you were to listen to Cheryl single and Dany's vocals you will see who is flat and who can sing.

Chery is a joke when someone I hear sings then they are entitled to comment.

Did you see Daryn taking his ear-piece out last night?

Well as he said it was very hard to hear and what he was being said in his ear piece.

What a load of BS. Will the guy ever run out of excuses and will his fans ever tire of swallowing them?

What on earth is going to be being said in his earpiece? He's not the presenter. No one will have been talking in his earpiece. It's there for him to hear the music and/or himself.

A couple of weeks ago he blamed his atrociousness on not being able to hear the backing so he was given an earpiece and now he blames the earpiece. Pathetic and even more pathetic that his fans believe it.

What a sick joke this guy is.

Precisely. Does anyone honestly think that if Cheryl hadn't been over-pimped to the extent that she has she'd be as popular?

It's pretty ironic that this bint is even in the position to judge whether or not someone can sing!!

Cristo on LBC had a vocal coach on the show she said that Danyl was flat and Joe was the only one that sung in tune
