I don't normally vote, but tonight I wanted to support Ricky and Erin, as it went pear-shaped for them.

I started dialling as soon as the number came on the screen and got the engaged tone. Sat pressing re-dial until the lines closed and still got the engaged tone. Actually began to think the BBC were going to announce the lines were down, allowing them to make numbers up after Jade dropped out.

Then Ricky is in the bottom two.... How does that happen - if we are to assume his line is constantly busy due to heavy voting?!

I voted once each for Nat & Laila

Saving my votes for Team Cola for when they reach the final. Then I'm going to go voting mad.

As I have said as part of another post - I had an absolute nightmare trying to get through to vote for Ricky and Erin and Laila and Anton - constant engaged tone until the last 3 or 4 mins. In fact hubby made the same remark as OP regarding the phone lines going down.

I ask the same question I started trying to vote from the moment the lines opened and only got through in the last few mins so WHY were they in the bottom two if so many people were "allegedly" voting for them to make their numbers constantly busy - and btw I vote every single week and have not had this problem before in ANY series

I didn't vote at all and now that Jade is out can no longer visualise feeling the urge to spend my cash on a Saturday night.

Voted once for Natalie and Vincent, and husband voted for Ali, no problems. Someone else voted for Natalie and Vincent about 33 times and got through o.k. ! Amazing !

Because he only had 2 points from the Judges.
He probably got loads of votes but that's a seriously big hill to climb if others higher up the leaderboard are popular too.

Even getting the highest phone vote (6 points), if for example Chris (leaderboard 4 points) got 5 points from the phone vote, he beats him and Ali would only need 4 phone points to beat him (5 from the leaderboard).

I don't usually vote until the semifinals.

Unless I have a particular favourite and they get mauled by the judges.

I got a constant engaged tone when I tried to vote for Chris & Ola. I did manage to get through once, though.

Having watched since series one, I do understand the voting system, however, my point is, if the line was constantly engaged, that would imply that the maximum number of calls were being made to that number. Logic would tell me that would put him at the top of the viewers vote.

When I have occasionally voted in the past this series, I have never got the engaged tone; I felt it was strange enough to make my posting.

Anyway, he's gone now, so we will never know.
